RCee and Joey B on “Knees & Bend II” Is The Collaboration We Didn’t Know We Needed

One of the fastest rising arts from Ghana and one of iMullar’s 2025 Artist to Watch, RCee is such a unique and interesting artist. His artistry comes from personal experiences and experiences that he gathers from people he encounters and it resonates with the Ghanaian audience because of the native and classic African sounds that he incorporates into his music.

From the way he carries himself, to his artistry and his sounds, he seems like an old soul in a young body. He embraces the Ghanaian Highlife and the sound is really felt in his EP, “How Did We Get Here?”. “Knees & Bend” became a sleeper hit in the middle of last year when he dropped a viral video of him doing the Daddy Lumba dancing moves with a couple of ladies.  Since then, he’s incorporated the Borga Highlife aesthetic into his craft and in all the visuals he’s subsequently released. With multiple visualizers adding elements of the 80s era, from crop tops and flare jeans, to zoot suits and vintage vehicles. “Knees & Bend” is a record about pining for a lover with a touch of masculine charm. He expresses with brutal honesty, his desires to a love interest.

On the remix he features Joey B, another unique and eclectic artist in his own right.  The song matches humor with yearning, making the average listener more drawn to the song. The remix is more of an exploration of how deep his artistry is and how good he is to adapt to other artists’ sound.

Speaking on the remix, RCee says, “This collaboration made me believe in positive affirmation. It was a dream I manifested in 2019 when I didn’t even have a song on my own. Seeing it happen gives me more confidence, belief and strength in whatever state I find myself in.”

“The thought process behind the Remix was purely based on instincts and personality. I have always wanted to convey my personality in my music and art, and this record came out as the perfect way I could ever do it. It is about bridging the gap between old highlife and afrobeats and sounding indigenous and original as possible”

Joey B, known for his genre-blending versatility, praised the collaboration, saying, “RCEE has something special, and Knees & Bend was already a vibe. Jumping on this remix was an easy decision, and we had a blast creating it.”

Looking at his work rate and his work ethic, it is fair to believe that RCee is not done yet and with an indication of another project on the horizon, it is best to assume that RCee will be a household name by the end of this year. This writer cannot wait to see his evolution and growth.
