Every week, the iMullar staff rounds up ten songs we cannot stop listening to, thus forming the weekly list of songs known as “On Rotation.” You heard these recommendations here first. From the UK to Nigeria, each track from this week’s selections is guaranteed to be a vibe.
1. Bella Shmurda – Verily
With themes of toxicity in love and emotional dependence, Bella Shmurda paints a sonic picture of a man so emotionally co-dependent on his partner that he struggles to break free from the vicious and endless cycle of self destruction.
2. Kwelit – Estudia
Kwelit’s recent album, “Luv*” is filled with sonic gems and this record is one them. Kwelit’s artistry stands out from the rest as it is authentic and synonymous to his identity and art.
3. Supa Gaeta & Robby Adams – Circadia Rhythm
An EDM remix to Drake and Gordo’s “Sideways” by Supa Gaeta is something we didn’t know we needed. If this record drops at a rave, it’s almost guaranteed that it will have you jumping and raging to it.
4. Mega EJ – Bread & Butter
Mega EJ starts this year with a pep in his step and a drive unlike any other to set his career on an upward trajectory. With the quality of sound on his latest EP, Mega EJ is poised for a major mainstream breakthrough if he maintains this consistency.
5. Good Nation, Minz & Low Jay – Back It Up
Smooth like a breezy car ride under the starry night. The vocals are almost ASMR-esque and with a complementary mellow production, the record takes you on a journey for the entire play duration.
6. Pierre Kwenders, Lady Donli & Gafacci – Everyday
A rave Dj’s dream opening track. If I’m at a rave, and a DJ opens with this record, best believe I’ll be staying for the rest of the set.
7. Onesimus – Tabwela
Onesimus’ unique approach to his artistry and sound never fails to beguile the audience. 30 seconds into this song, and you’re ready to listen to his entire discography.
8. Darassa ft. Mbossa – Looking For Love
It’s past February but who said one can never still try looking for genuine love and have fun while doing that. The lyrics say you are yet to find love but the beat will have you on your feet dancing like you’ve already found it.
9. Njoki Karu – Heaven
The guitar strums and emotional riffs in Njoki’s vocals creates a beautiful connection with anyone listening, making you relate and appreciate every lyric and note she sings.
10. K.Keed & A-Reece – Dilemma
It’s been a good couple of years for women in rap. With the world’s attention on rap and lyricism now, it’s easy to appreciate flow, rhyme schemes and complex lyrics. K.Keed’s flow and lyricism is masterful and sonically appealing. A-Reece on a song is a guaranteed masterclass and his verse does not disappoint.
