Hashim: Crafting Culture Through Art and Community

In the realm of visual and digital art, few artists have been able to encapsulate the essence of culture, collaboration, and innovation quite like Hashim. With years of experience collaborating with renowned artists, he has cultivated a unique style that resonates with a wide audience. As a driving force within his creative community, Hashim’s upcoming pop-up event promises to be a celebration of his artistic journey, seamlessly blending art and merchandise in a one-of-a-kind showcase. We had the opportunity to sit down with him and discuss his evolution as an artist, the significance of this event, and what we can anticipate from him in the future.

Can you share a bit about your journey as a visual and digital creative? What inspired you to pursue this path?

I found myself very excited about seeing digital art. The works of Poka, nilsbritwum, and Peniel Enchill earlier really sparked that passion and I’ve been learning and acquiring knowledge since then.

You’ve worked with many artists over the years. How has collaborating with them influenced your artistic style and vision?

For me, what it is is I love music, so being able to work in said industry is always amazing. It has made me very conscious about the process of creating for someone else’s vision and I’m glad I can do that very well at this level.

Your upcoming pop-up event has generated a lot of buzz. What inspired this idea, and what themes or stories are you aiming to showcase?

So this is my second pop-up. I’m very big on the community so this is another opportunity to bring my friends and people who enjoy the things I enjoy, the music I like and people who have been supporting me together to have fun and just interact and also shop some cool things.

What can people expect from the art and merch you’ll be exhibiting at the pop-up? Are there any standout pieces or collections you’re particularly excited about?

I am excited for everyone to see what I’ve been working on. I’ve been working on some of these pieces for years so I can’t wait for people to experience it in a physical space. I feel like there’s a lot of context when it’s presented in this way so I’m looking forward to seeing how it’s received. Standout pieces I would say are the jorts, jeans and sweats. Had a lot of fun working on those

You’ve built a strong community around your work. How do you engage with and grow this community, and what role does it play in your creative process?

Most of what I create, I create because I would like to see that created. I’m creating what I as a consumer would like and there are so many people like me who like the same type of music, the same type of clothes, basically I’m creating things for myself and people like me.

How has your work evolved over the years, both in terms of your artistic style and the mediums you explore?

I’ve been learning a lot. I’m always learning and researching and referencing so I’m always evolving which is why it might take a while for me to release new stuff because I’m constantly changing and applying what I’ve learnt and trying to do the best sh** ever.

Looking ahead, what are your plans after the pop-up? Are there any upcoming projects or collaborations you’re excited to share with your audience?

I am so excited for the future because I have been working and working and I can’t wait for you all to see what I have been up to. You can catch a glimpse of the future at the pop-up so be there!
