Hailing from Teshie, Ghana but now residing in Osu, Toyboi is a rapper that has cultivated hip-hop, drill and grime tunes. With lyrical flows killing it in Ga, Twi and English, it is no doubt why Toyboi is distinctive. Toyboi brings a type of freshness to the music scene and the proof is in the pudding.

This was my introduction to Toyboi and it’s probably my favourite song of Toyboi. ‘Kyeer Yoo’ is a bass bumping drill tune that is full of energy. I love the fact that Toyboi raps in Ga so eloquently and hard-hitting switching to English. ‘Kyeer Yoo’ is a refreshing sound to the Ghanaian drill scene and I’d love to hear more!
M.I.A (Freestyle)
The first four bars get me stoked every time because I know that Toyboi is about to go crazy once the beat drops! You can tell how enthusiastic he is with his music owing to his tactful lyricism and witty wordplay. Toyboi oozes with the confidence of a rapper who knows he is talented.
Do or Die ft Kelvynboy
Here we have a track that flaunts Toyboi’s versatility. Produced by Kuvie, I love that he sampled the late highlife hitmaker, Daasabre Gyamenah’s Kokooko and how well Toyboi and Kelvynboy flow together whilst paying homage to a legend. Keeping on theme with a taste of the past, the visuals are set in the 1980s following a brimming romance.
Somtin
A little throwback to Toyboi’s early days proving that his lyrical talent no be small tins. ‘Somtin’ has more of an Afro-swing vibe to it along with a catchy Ga infused chorus that is simple to learn even for the non-Ga speakers.
