Best Ghanaian songs for July

July served us with a lot of new songs birthed from isolation. The like of EL, Kay-T, Jay Cliff, Atown TSB & Kweku Smoke released what looks like the future of Ghanaian music while Twitch 4EVA and Amaarae teased us with singles from their upcoming projects. Below are our pick out of the many releases in July no one particular order.

1. EL featuring Falz and Gemini Orleans – JJ Rawlings

Rapper EL recruits Falz ‘theBahdguy’ and Gemini Orleans on his coup d’etat plot for the industry. The rapper makes reference to HE. JJ Rawlings ex-president of Ghana, channelling his successful coups.

2. Spc.Gh.st featuring Wanlov The Kubolor & Marince Omario – Non3 (The Birth of a New Wave)

If you’re a fan of witty punchlines, lovely melodies and positive energy, Non3 is a must listen to. means “this is it” from the Ga dialect in Ghana.

3. Jay Cliff featuring $pacely, WhoisAkin & Moor Sound – Crossfaded

Moor Sound “made it bang” on Jay Cliff’s “Crossfaded” featuring $pacely from Ghana and WhoisAkin from Nigeria. With a cosy vibe and it’s soft rhythmic nature, this song would hypnotize into breaking your back to it.

4. Kay-T featuring Medikal – Obi  Ne Yem (ONY) 

Kay-T teamed up with AMG’s Medikal and Okese 1 to create what everyone calls “the best hip-hop tune to come out of Ghana. 2020.” “Obi Ne Yem” brings out these moves.

5. Khalifina  – Today Tomorrow 

Khalifina’s “Today Tomorrow” is about a hopeless romantic person trying to seek closure and affection from a loved one. The song embodies different emotions and feels throughout the listening experience.

6. Atown TSB & Kweku Smoke featuring Bosom P-Yung – Sweet Drip

Talking about authenticity and the lifestyle of a trapper, producer Atown TSB & Kweku Smoke feature frequent collaborator Bosom P-Yung on “Sweet drip” of their joint project “We Rage.”

7. Twitch 4EVA – Baby

Produced by Yung D3mz, ‘Baby’ is a direct translation for a man who is deeply in love with a special one. It’s safe to confer ‘Mr Lover Boy’ on Twitch 4EVA for the magic in ‘Baby’.

8. BiQo Music featuring Tano Jackson – Palms 

Filled with a sultry saxophone, BiQo features Tano Jackson on ‘Palms’ with a melodic rap verse and charms. The song finishes off with a jazzy saxophone solo fit for a relaxing night.

9. Kpakpo Lee – Suppose To Loose

Lee has us thinking about life on an AltraNova produced joint. KpaKpo Lee addressing some issues regarding the road to success.

10. Dani Draco & Moor Sound – Ready 

Dani Draco deals with relatable problems like internal conflicts and indecisions on ‘Ready’ produced by Moor Sound.

11. Kayso – Take it 

Whenever we hear ‘this be Kayso from Tema’, you know what to expect. The young producer lays his vocals on ‘Take it’, his very first single of the year. Kayso goes all lovey-dovey on this one accompanied by a visual directed by Mr Akrong. I bet you didn’t know he could lay it down like this.

12. Juls featuring Miraa May and Donaeo – Blessed  

Juls expressed his gratitude through ‘Blessed’. From being invited to be a member of the Grammy Recording Academy, to all the music success he’s had so far. Feed off all the positivity and good vibes in ‘Blessed’’ by Juls featuring Algerian singer Miraa May and Donae’o.

13. Amaarae – Leave Me Alone 

Amaarae blocks off all negative energy on “leave me alone.” Produced by Kuvie, Amaarae emphasis on the essence of putting your energy and time to good use, and focusing on your mental health.

14. Camidoh – “Find Me” (Prod. by Nektunez) 

Camidoh’s “Contingency Plan” has a lot of good music but “Find Me” pushes to motivate listeners produced by Nektunez. Listen here.

15. J. Derobie – Ginger Me

Since we’re suckers for a good love story, “Ginger me” gives a vivid description of the perfect love picture produced by Uche B.
