Each week, we accumulate a list of newly released songs that we think you should hear because music is the only universal language of peace and love. Here are some of the best releases you may have missed this week and don’t forget who put you on these sounds.
Mawcom X – Free Man Freestyle
How does it feel to be a freeman? being free means doing things your own way, not receiving directions or orders from anyone basically just been you with no restrictions? Mawcom X relates this type of freedom to his music in the sense that he is a creative avant-garde doing things on his own terms, not being pressured by the status quo of the industry but it’s also a second meaning of the FreeMan boys, Huey and Riley from the boondocks being my personality. We hope everyone can get to this level of freedom because it allows you to express yourself to your fullest capacity. Listen to “freeman Freestyle”.
Cassper Nyovest Featuring Tweezy – Amademoni
South African rapper Cassper Nyovest has released his second song of the year, “Amademoni” featuring Tweezy. This new single is a follow up to his recent song titled “Good For That“. The rapper pays tribute to Pop Smoke who passed on in February while throwing some rap bullets at his music adversary AKA, talking about he is back on the throne-like he never left. The song is Grime from the United Kingdom where Pop Smoke originally got his sound from.
Mike Body – 2020 Reset
We all agree 2020 has been a tough year for the world and with just 4 months into this year, so many things have happened that we wish there was a rest bottom. Mike Body talks about his year in his new song “2020 Reset” from the good, the bad and how he plans to survive regardless of all of the things that are happening around him. We hope there was an easy way out but we have no choice than live.
Kelvin Black – Too Late
The boys are in their feelings again and this time they are not expressing their feelings, it’s a broken heart. Kelvin Black’s new song “Too Late” talks about a failed relationship with his said lover who wasn’t in for love as she made it look like, all she was just a gold digger and a cold killer. We will love to say enjoy this song but it’s a broken heart song, but enjoy it anyway.
Kwesi Arthur – Turn On The Lights
When it’s time to finds one’s souls mate, you are riddled with unsureness and doubts. Turn on the lights has Kwesi Arthur running very different scenarios of how this love thing will end. Someone’s daughter who would hold you down is what everybody needs at the end of the day, “Turn off the lights, I’m looking for a boo”.
Kayy Ell – Lose Control
The whole idea of love is confusing sometimes. Imagine being in love with someone and realizing that they don’t love you the way you do but you like this person so much that you tend to ignore the signs. Kayy Ell visualises this in her new song “lose control”.
Kweku Afro – Nothing to Something
The title of this song easily speaks for itself, “from nothing to something” talks about moving from a lower level in life to a higher level more like moving from grass to grace, it doesn’t matter where you find yourself in life right now, there’s always hope, find it and hold on to it and don’t forget that you won’t be at your lowest forever. The self-produced track based on his own journey is a motivational spiel that emphasizes the value of diligent hustle.
Ivorian Doll – Rumors
On a drill beat and some hot punches, Ivorian Doll addresses rumours and talks about how people look down on her craft and try so hard to bring her down. She didn’t have to hit us this hard but she did and we love it.
Hunter Mccoid featuring Zac – Lock the door
This song talks about being in and out of love with someone as well as the difficulties of getting over someone when it seems like the only thing you can think about. “ A lot of the ways we write around a song tend to come from not one central idea but many ideas that kinda blend together so that’s how it came to be”. The song comes with a beautiful video, do check it out via the link below.
Gwp Nelly – In my head
Nelly’s new song is a clear example of the phrase “turn the broken heart into an art”, he channelled his broken-heartedness into this his new song titled “in my head”. The song is about how unfair his lover was to him which drove him into doing certain things he later regrets, so this is a song asking his lover to come back into his life, quite an emotional song we must say.
G Brunot – Keys
The soul artist is aware of the ongoing pandemic and wants to sooth his audience with yet another beautiful piece. Fast-paced and full of energy, G.Brunot goes from a 0 to 100 on the Eyeseegoat-produced beat, his finesse, rhythm and voice are all in perfect harmony as always; no wrongs whatsoever. Like every song of the act we’ve come to love ‘Keys’, the song revolves around a damsel whose dangerous nature G.Brunot simply can’t seem to get enough of.
Zed AyKay – No handshakes
The global Coronavirus pandemic which has gripped the world has seen countries forced to forego various greeting rituals for hygiene reasons. In a time when we are all being encouraged to find creative solutions to problems, people around the world are getting creative with their greeting habits in an effort to reduce the risk of contracting the virus and to prevent its spread. Zed AyKay comes through with a new song to help/enlighten people about this pandemic.
