Quick fact: With Almost 200 million people living there, Nigeria is one of the most populous countries in the world.
This week on Blast From The Past, the focus is on hit Nigerian songs from the early 2000’s. Over the years, we as consumers have been exposed to a variety of artistes and sounds coming out of Nigeria. From the likes of P-square to 9ice, the country of Nigeria has produced a number of artistes, who have blessed us with countless hit songs and current have some super talented individuals living up to the legacy of some Nigerian greats. This playlist has been curated to celebrate songs within the African Diaspora, which will forever remain in our heart, mind and soul. This week the category is “Naija Fever.”

Danfo Driver is a catchy tune with relevant lyrics about the hustle and bustle of life. African Queen is a song that is bound to give you Goosebumps. A guitar ballad infused with folk and hip-hop elements, African Queen is a classic song praising and loving on African queens.

If you are ready to throw your hands in the air and wave them like you just don’t care, Yahooze is the song for you. Offically released in 2007, Yahooze made waves with proactive lyrics about hustling accompanied by a cool danceable beat.
10. X Project – ‘Lorile’
Lorile is a song that you have definitely heard, but may fail to recognize. Lorlie is a dance anthem that was released in 2008. This song contains a fusion of Nigerian and Sierra Leonean sounds.
