TIME EP BY KELVYNBOY
Afro Dancehall is a new genre we love and love to vibe with. This genre is a combination of Afro beats and dancehall more like melody with danceable beats. The Burniton music group signee released his first EP last week after releasing several singles more of which were hit songs. This time he has decided to put his craft into an 8 song Extended Play, so his fans and music lovers can enjoy.
I took my time to listen to the EP not just once but a couple of times and I put together this review for all music lovers, just in case you’re doubting how good this EP, I am here to tell you that it is really good.
‘ON THE FLOOR’
“I gave you all my love, you left it on the floor” a line that drew my attention from the first song, he is certainly talking about a girl who took her love for granted, he is broken hearted after giving his heart to this girl after he vowed he wasn’t going to do it (love) again, he is in pain, he can’t move on and he is calling on this girl to come save him from his pain. Once again Kelvynboy has proved to us that boys know how to express their feelings too and the best way is through music.
‘MEA’ FT JOEY B
‘Mea’, meaning Me is the second song on the EP which features the wavy boy Joey B. After the broken heart Kelvyn has found another girl I suppose, who wants nobody else but him hence the line “3y3 mea na op3” which means “I am the only one she wants”. Joey is focused on pleasing the girl and making her his, Joey never disappoints, he has all the vibes that is needed to make a girl fall in love with him, however, we hope they both win the heart of these girls. Mea is a love message, knowing that there is someone who wants just you gives you a certain assurance when it comes love. Love is a beautiful feeling and everyone is supposed to feel special knowing that they are all someone wants, loving and being loved is the best feeling in this world and mea sends this message in the most finest way to anyone that listens to it.
‘NANA AMA’ FT SUZZ BLAQ
Kelvynboy features Afro soul sensation Suzz Blaq on this one he calls Nana Ama. Nana Ama is Kelvyn’s lover, in this song he tells us how much he loves Nana Ama and what he has to offer her if only she doesn’t play with his heart and his feelings. Suzz Blaq (probably Nana Ama) assures Kelvyn of the love he is asking for, and how she is willing to give him all the love she has, promising not to break his heart, she does this with her soothing and beautiful voice which is to die for. As a lover of music, I try to put myself in the music and feel the same way the artist feels. Nana Ama has such a calm vibe and the lyrics are extremely relatable, the fact that Kelvynboy added a feminine voice to further tell this love story is what makes it more beautiful.
‘LOKO’ FT MEDIKAL
Loko is a highly spiritual song, a clear fusion of dancehall but with an Afro beats vibe that anyone that loves music can jam too. “Canabis make them loko” (Cannabis makes them mad) Cannabis makes them mad not in a bad way, but he explains that it takes them to different high level where everything is certainly possible. Rapper of the year Medikal adds his rap flows explaining further what Cannabis does to him. I certainly cannot say much on this song, because I haven’t had the experience yet, but from close sources, cannabis makes you feel a certain way, it’s takes you to a place where you know and believe that you can do anything. It’s not a bad thing and this is not to say that because you want everything to seem possible you have to try it to be able to experience that feeling. You can stay positive with or without cannabis, but if you decide to go for it, all the best.
‘WOARA’ FEATURING DAMARIS JOLI
“Woara” – Nobody else but you , the 5th song on the Time EP. Still on the love matter which features Damaris, they both express their love for each other in warm melodies talking about how they want nobody but they just want each other and we believe that’s how love is supposed to be, not one sided but the love energy coming from both sides. In my opinion love is a partnership not a one man business and Woara couldn’t have explained any better. “I want you,yes you, nobody else but you” , this how love is supposed to be anything apart from the message in Woara is not love. I love you, I love everything about you and that it is. That is Love.
‘ANYTHING’ FEATURING KIDI
Anything is more of a hi-life/Afro dancehall tune and Kelvynboy puts Kidi on this one, so you know what to expect. Like the title of the song, the boys are willing to do anything for the one they love. Anything, yes anything just to show how much they love their significant others. Kidi talks about how much his girl loves her and in turn he is ready and willing to do anything just to keep this girl. Another evidence that, boys know how to love these days. In a world where people are trying so hard to hide their feelings, there is always someone out there willing to do anything as far as love is concerned, people like that still exist, people who will just do extra, the unimaginable and unexpected things just to prove their love. That is what anything means to me, don’t do the regular, anyone else can do that, let’s do things that blow the mind, extremely different things from the ordinary and that’s our kind of love. Anything just anything.
‘CATCH A VIBE’ FT STONEBWOY
One of my favorite on the EP, everything is possible with the right vibe, so it’s very necessary that we do whatever it takes to catch positive energy and positive vibes with whoever, wherever we find ourselves. Kelvynboy features the Bhimnation boss Stonebwoy on Catch a Vibe. They both talk about how necessary it is to keep a positive vibe in anything we do, no negativity, no hatred, no enmity, no jealousy, just positivity. Catching a positive vibe has a strong impact on our happiness, so no matter what we are doing we ought to keep positive vibes and positive energy around us. A highly spiritual message and I Stan.
‘MY STORY’
Kelvynboy ends with a musical version of his story. This song talks about what he has been through, the struggle and stress he went through just to come this far. A lot of people can relate to this song because the road is never easy, success will never come easy. This story is a simple motivation for anyone out there trying their best to be a better version of themselves, as long as you don’t give up on your dreams and you work hard success will surely come to you.
The T.I.M.E Extended Play (EP) is an amazing body of work and a compilation of beautiful songs about love and good vibes. This is Kelvynboy’s first EP, and we love it. We hope to see more and hear more of this good music from Kelvynboy.The lyrical content is on point, and is accompanied beautiful voices. The production on this project is everything; this EP is simply amazing.
