Morganite, born Maame Marful, is an experimental young digital artist and graphic designer hailing from Ghana. Her work, which initially focused on bringing retro designs to life in a modern world, is now experimental pieces inspired by various art styles. She describes her work as afro-surreal and afro-experimental; this stems from how she views the world through her perspective. She mostly shares her work online, through her social media platforms. Over the years, She has had some of her work included in a few publications and has showcased her artworks at exhibitions worldwide. Some of the inspirations for her art pieces come from various sources such as fashion, media, art and lifestyle of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
What Inspired your decision to be an artist?
It was to save me from a terrible state of mind post-COVID. I decided to change my art form from writing to visual art and it saved me.
What type of Art do you do?
I mostly do Illustrations, photo manipulation and posters.
What story do you tell with your Art?
I tell a series of stories based on various perspectives and experiences. It is my intention to give the viewer a different feeling with each piece I put out.
How did you learn how to make arts?
I am a self-taught artist












In 5 years, where do you want to be with your art?
In 5 years, I would like my art to be known and loved by all. I intend to be a household name in my field of design with my work serving as a huge inspiration to create as well.
Who/what are your biggest artistic influences?
I have no exact artistic references, but I am inspired by various works by various artists across the ages as well as inspiration from visual and audio media.
What are some of your major works, collaborations, and exhibitions? Are there any people you would like to work with in future?
Over the years, I have worked with clients both in Ghana and overseas. My work has been featured in magazines such as PanochaZine, Crab Apple Literary and Remington Review. My clients also include the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, the art and music collective 99PHACES, among others.
