IB Kamara, the creative director of Off-White, made a triumphant return to the brand’s American roots with a stunning debut show in Brooklyn Bridge Park. The Spring/Summer 2025 collection, titled “Duty Free,” was a celebration of community, freedom, and the global traveller.
Inspired by his time in Ghana, Kamara infused the collection with elements of African culture, from draping techniques to vibrant patterns. The designs, which included sharp tailoring, party dresses, and tracksuits, were both powerful and feminine, featuring corsets, deep V-necks, and asymmetric cuts. For menswear, Kamara introduced a “modular urban uniform” with utility layers and colourful denim. The brand also collaborated with Ghanaian contemporary artist Nana Danso. His signature vibrant paintings, featuring bold graphics and brand symbols, adorned coed styles, adding a unique and personal touch to the designs. This partnership further solidified the collection’s connection to African culture and its celebration of global diversity.”
The show drew a crowd of celebrities, including Flavor Flav, Camila Cabello, Leon Bridges, and Mary J. Blige, who gathered to witness Kamara’s vision. The open-air venue, a community basketball court, was symbolic of the collection’s focus on inclusivity and shared experiences.
“Duty Free” was more than just a fashion show, with its bold designs and infectious energy, the collection captured the essence of New York City and the spirit of Off-White.
