Female DJs Staking A Claim In The Showbiz Industry.
It’s hard to imagine that there was a time when female DJs didn’t exist in Ghana. But before the mid-2000s, women were rarely seen behind the decks of Ghanaian clubs and bars. Fast forward to 2022, and things have changed drastically. Today, there are many female DJs who are staking their claim in the industry by performing at major events and competitions around the world.
In recent times, female disc jockeys (DJs) in Ghana are becoming a force to reckon with and are taking the nightlife and day parties by storm. In a bid to establish themselves as serious players in the industry, these women have been working hard over the years to carve out their own niche and make an impact on the male-dominated industry.
They have garnered respect for their technical skills as well as for their creativity when it comes to mixing hit songs that people can dance to all night long at events. The rise of female DJs has led to an increase in demand for them and now they command big fees compared to their male counterparts. Female DJs have made a name for themselves not only in Ghana but also on the international stage. They are not just DJs, but also producers, promoters, and event managers. Some of them have built a reputation for themselves as being the best in their business.
In addition to being talented and hardworking, female DJs are known for their fashion sense and style which is always on point. It is not uncommon to see them looking stunning at major events around town. Notable names are the DBN Gogo, Uncle Waffles, Masked DJ, DJ ChiChi, Dj Baaba, Dj Mish, Dj Nyce, Dj Ghboi, Dj Melis, Dj Sydney Love, Emmakorantema and Gal dem Dj, and newbies like Araba.OA, Anna Leonie, ButIMnotaDJ, Badgalbob, Moone and more.
The presence of female DJs has been growing steadily, and this can be attributed to the fact that they have the opportunity to work on the same platform as their male counterparts, given the fact they are good at what they do. In addition, these women have also been given an opportunity to shine on the international stage because of their ability to do well with their music mixes. The trend of having more female DJs is encouraging and shows there is room for everyone in showbiz, irrespective of gender.
The trend of hiring female DJs for private parties continues to grow in Ghana. They are getting more opportunities to play at major events around the world and are also getting more recognition than they ever did before. It’s definitely a great time to be a female DJ, especially in Ghana. However, there seems to be room for both male and female DJs in Ghana’s showbiz industry as long as they continue to deliver good music and entertain us with their sound.
