Every week, the iMullar staff round up ten songs we can’t stop listening to. These songs form the weekly list of songs known as “On Rotation”. You heard these combinations here first. Selected songs cover from South to West Africa, then to the UK, each track is guaranteed to be a vibe.
Darkovibes featuring DaVido – Je M’appelle
Produced by M.O.G Beatz, Je M’appelle brings out all the dance moves you can think of. Darko collaborated with one of Africa’s biggest 3 acts, creating a groove for the ladies. Looking like an anthem for the holidays already.
Cheque featuring Ayra Starr – Dangerous
Dubbed as two of Nigeria’s high value prospects, the duo get risky on this “Afro-Soul” inspired tune called ‘Dangerous’. A dope tune that explores the toxicity of love on a moody production. Right off Cheque’s debut album, it’s proof that he can trap and still be a sucker for love too.
Headie One – Too Loyal
“Too Loya” is the intro to Headie One’s new mixtape “Too Loyal For My Own Good”, which summarizes Headie’s world as he speaks on street knowledge, allegiance, snaky moments, life & death situations and everything in between. Holding down the center of this deep record is a sick Quincy Tellem’s drill beat.
Tion Wayne featuring NSG – LOYAL
Known for their 2018 smash single, Tion Wayne collaborates with the sensational NSG on “LOYAL”. Off Tion’s album “Green with Envy, “Loyal” is almost like a part 2 of “Options”, but with a conscious theme. Loyalty is difficult to come by so picking a real ride or die is the main concern here. Definitely on rotation whilst we ponder about it.
Drake featuring Tems – Fountain
Undoubtedly the biggest rapper of our generation, the continent was ecstatic when a billboard in the heart of Lagos suggested that Tems was on the Drake album. Fountain’s production pays homage to our sound’s elements, allowing Tems to float whilst Drake plays catches up, it’s a Drake song but Tems stole the show.
Wavy The Creator, CKay & Efya – Stella Riddim
Wondering how a soulful amapiano track would sound like? Thanks to Ghanaian producer Kuvie, we get to hear that. Throw in Ckay & Efya’s vocals, with WTC’s buoyant writing and the result is a smooth amapiano song with a great build up.
Juls featuring Fireboy DML – Intentionally
One of the standout tunes off Juls’s third album, “Intentionally” shows why “Peru” was a smash hit, DML knows how to cook up a hit and on this waist whining song, his vocals dance with the drums and guitar strings. Throw in easy to sing-along lyrics and it’s no wonder why this track is on rotation.
P. Montana featuring King Promise, Eugy – Gifty
Known as one of the diaspora’s finest DJ’s, P. Montana on his new mixtape “Nsuo” harnesses features from some of Afrobeats’ waviest acts. On “Gifty”, King Promise & Eugy did what was needed, they served chill vibes and feel good energy to this track.
Fjace – The Bag
The Ghanaian Rapper is all about the bag in his 3 pack single, on thick heavy bass drums, he preaches about the ups & downs “The Bag” comes with.
Ejoya, SGaWD & Wani- Bad
Ejoya’s “Class of 21” is stuffed with Nigeria’s youngest & brightest acts, and one of the project’s stands out tune is “Bad”, a bop by one of Nigeria’s resident baddies SGawd & Afropop crooner Wani.
