MNEW SOUNDS – WEEK 25
Each week, we accumulate a list of newly released songs that we think you should hear because music is the only universal language of peace and love. Here are some of the best releases you may have missed this week and don’t forget who put you on these sounds.

Fireboy – New York City Girl
Fireboy is stuck in a relationship with a ‘New York City Girl’ who came in for a short duration, he wants to spend more time and share lovely moments with her but unfortunately, summertime is drawing near and her New York City Girl, unfortunately, has to leave.
Camidoh – Hot Pursuit
‘Hot Pursuit’ is track 2 off Camidoh’s upcoming album ‘Contingency Plan’. This song talks about how a very talented young fellow is loved by many people around the world and yet hated and envied as well. It goes on to talk about how no amount of hate or jealousy can take away a man’s blessings.
Kirani Ayat & Free the Youth – I know
‘I Know’ is a collaborative single between Kirani Ayat and streetwear brand Free The Youth, they both surfaced in 2015 and have since then been championing youth culture, creativity and youth empowerment. The song is about perseverance, smart and hard work, honesty and reflection of oneself and the song was produced by Kayso.
Burna Boy – Wonderful
There’s always a certain type of feeling you experience when you know you’re working hard towards your goals and the life you deserve. Burna Boy calls this type of feeling ‘wonderful’, a track that precedes his upcoming album ‘Twice As Tall’, the Telz produced song is certainly one for the dance floors, do check it out.
Wande Coal – Naughty Girl
Wande Coal never misses and we can all agree on that, in his new song he talks to us about a girl who seemed like an angel on the first day but it turns she has some hidden identities, find out about it in ‘Naughty Girl’.
Timaya – Born to win
Life is a battlefield, everyone is fighting their individual battles one way or the other. Timaya tells us in his new song that the dream is to win, with or without help, we were ‘Born to win’ so that’s the only choice we have, to win.
Kelvin Black – Araba
Based on a true love heartbreak story, ‘Araba’ by Kelvin Black is a piece composed to comfort the heart of anyone going through emotional stress. This song simply laments on the entire process of heartbreak.
Shatta Wale – Where I Come From
Making references to where he comes from, Shatta Wale talks about issues and things happening where he comes from, the good, the bad and the fight for survival in his new song ‘Where I Come From’.
Rema – Alien
Rema is certainly not from this world, steadily dropping bangers without giving us any heads up. He tells us a love story and why he does the things he does in his new single ‘Alien’.
Manu World – Choko
Manu Worldstar recently announced that his debut album ‘Molimo’ will be released later this year. The 5th track off the album ‘Choko’ has been released and it talks about the struggles of life, the survival of the fittest and blessings, it also serves as an insight to the upcoming project.
Chop Life Crew featuring MOJO & LK – CLC Step
MOJO and LK track-assisted Chop Life Crew’s ‘CLC Step’. Introducing themselves officially to the streaming world as a collective with a global sound but enough local freshness that showcases their authenticity, Chop Life Crew presents ‘CLC Step’. The already viral track amongst underground fans features members L.K and MOJO (famous for his breakout track also named Chop Life Crew that featured Prettyboydo). The visuals are a perfect representation of crew life, simple but with class, swag and featuring the crew members including Tim Lyre, DaRe, Ron Ehi (who produced the track), Joker Of Lagos and more.
Desh Dub – Champion
Zambian cross-media artist, researcher, writer and social activist based in the Netherlands today releases his long-awaited single ‘Champion’. The single ‘Champion’ is from dESH.DUBS’ forthcoming album ”Above the Wicked” scheduled for release in August 2020.
‘Champion’ is an energetic, upbeat, bouncy and infectious track with an R&B and Dancehall influence to it, sonically, it is fair to say that the song is a fusion of Dancehall, Hip-Hop, Afrobeat and with a touch of what dESH calls Zambezi. The new song showcases dESH’ outstanding songwriting skills, using references to voodoo and old testament.
Amos K featuring N Edjoh – Gang Gang
The song was inspired by brotherhood, being part of a rap group called Clan Amosk finds the need to put a song out which basically talks about how they have each other’s back, the need to constantly remain together as brothers.
Projects
Bryan the Mensah – Not Going Outside EP
Earlier this year Bryan said ‘I don’t feel like going outside’, now his new EP is titled ‘Not Going Outside’, interesting huh? The 7-track tape is an expression of Bryan’s comfortability in his own space and accepting his craft for what it really is. We are really not going outside.

‘King of Love’ by Kizz Daniel is a body of work with stories of Self Love, Love, Insecurities, Toxicity In relationships, Pressure from society when it comes to love, finding confidence and strength in oneself. Kizz Daniel beautifully puts issues of life with major emphasis on love in a 17-track Afro-pop album. With ‘Jaho’ and ‘Pak’ ‘n’ Go’ released ahead of the album, the other 15 songs will definitely have you dancing, tapping your feet or nodding your head throughout.

Nasty C and Dj Whoo Kid – Zulu
Nasty C has teamed up with DJ Whoo Kid for their very first mixtape collaboration ‘Zulu Mixtape’. The project was created during the lockdown with Nasty C and DJ Whoo Kid working to put together to put up this masterpiece for fans around the world. “ZULU” features two tracks from T.I., and songs with Landstrip Chip, iZZE, Mishlawi and Crowned Yung

South African DJ and Producer Kabelo Motha known by his stage name Kabza De Small released his much-awaited studio album ‘I Am The King Of Ampiano: Sweet & Dust”. The album features the likes Of Wizkid, Burna Boy, Daliwonga Vyno Miller, Focalistic & Nia Pearl who makes her debut on the Ampiano scene and a host of other amazing artists. 27 tracks, 3 hours, full jams session, get your dancing shoes ready, you’ll need them for this one.

RE DECAY – Down Long Enough
Berlin-based duo Owen Ross and Lavid of Re Decay have released their funk-infused EP ‘Down Long Enough’, the tape presents the duo as astute music merchants. They explain, “This record has been four years in the making and we couldn’t be prouder of how it came out. The artists we collaborated with from around the world each contributed something unique and special, they are the reason we were able to take this record to where it needed to go”. Down Long Enough features a variety of rising artists including K. Marie Kim, ADH, Mawcom X, Sedric Perry and Brian Ennals.
