NEW SOUNDS – WEEK 12
Each week, we accumulate a list of newly released songs that we think you should hear because music is the only universal language of peace and love. Here are some of the best releases you may have missed this week and don’t forget who put you on these sounds.

This list will be updated every day with new sounds released this week till Sunday.
Worlasi – Skreentime
We live two lives, a virtual and a real. With time we’ve seen so many of our social connections being moved from the real to the virtual, others virtual to real – some out of opportunity, others out of convenience. Now we are forced to stay indoors, reduce our real-life interactions to a minimum and more than ever we are glued to our screens – to read the news, to socialise, to distract ourselves and to work, the virtual space is our home, our social life, for the time being. Notice how you interact with your phone, notice how your screen time affects you: what makes you press hold with a smile, what makes you throw your phone away angered with a frown and a fast-beating heart? Like in real life, be mindful about your virtual home – who and what you want to let in or rather kick out.
Okaiwav – Follow my lead
Follow my lead according to Okaiwav was inspired by the whole idea of working hard and becoming successful. The song came as a result of regular studio sessions with Nii Amu, Almighty Trei and shabazz who were all featured on the song.
PzeeFire Featuring Chief Kellz – Big Emotions
After giving us “WOSSOP”, off the Hustle & Heart – Ep late last year, Pzeefire enlists Chief Kellz on a new song he calls ” Big Emotions”. The song was produced by Certibeats, 2mins 14 seconds of pure feels and classic emo vibes with Pzeefire singing with a toned-down patois accent and Chief Kellz giving us his narratives in pseudo-trap house style mixed with Twi and English. When the heart has a lot to say, it cannot be held back, this song is for those times when love tastes sweeter, joy like never & everything just feels extra.
Kwabsmah – All Day
All Day’ sets the tone about a girl Kwabsmah loves and wishes to spend his whole day with. He dreams of travelling far and wide to see this remarkable girl just so they have some mad fun and of course, cap it off with loads of cuddling till the sun is up again. ‘All Day’ is set to soothe fans and audiophiles alike, we’re in unpleasant times and Kwabsmah wants to help audiophiles find calm within their minds and souls as everyone prepares themselves for what’s coming. Stay indoors and listen to Kwabsmah’s ‘All Day’.
Kofi Jamar Featuring Khaligraph Jones & Ice Prince – In the city
Every week we get amazing collaborations to share with you and this week we have something from Kofi Jamar. “In the city” which features Ice Prince and Khaligraph Jones is one of our favourite songs for this week, this is hip hop and if you’re not a fan of hip hop you might not enjoy this but either way in the spirit of quarantine this type of sound is all we need to get into a good mood, from the beats to the lyrics the entire song is just hot, so get in your hip hop elements, stay home and bump to this.
Gibriville – Love & Hip Hop
Some artists construct words and eventually find the right beat to put their words to use, but Gibrilville states that an incredibly jazzy beat was his inspiration for ”Love and Hip-Hop”. Gibrilville proclaims that he has a story to tell and proceeds to tell us a romantic story about a woman he wants to pursue. His ability to sync delivery with the changes on a beat is especially interesting to hear. The DJ scratches and flute additions also truly make the entire song sound like a mellow orchestra you can enjoy anywhere, anytime.
The Art featuring Berd – Posted
“The song is inspired by the pressures and hustle of creating music with the music symbolized as Dope. Berd and myself play the role of street peddlers “pushing” dope to listeners who demand constant supply”.
“Posted” falls in the genre space termed “Fu” which is a fusion of trap, hip hop and jazz elements which gives it that cool vibes everyone can enjoy, the song was produced by B Young and mixed and mastered by Young Fred.
McRay Featuring Kwame Yesu & Klu – BMW
McRay’s first Afrobeat song “BMW” was more of a challenge to himself as he had to step out of his rap and hip hop comfort zone. “This could be one of my finest Afrobeats songs ever recorded because it was written from a very enlightened mind in a beautiful place at a point in time”. The song features Kwame Yesu and Klu and was produced Quamina MP. BMW which interprets as “Be My Wife” is the title because he loves Beamers and is definitely getting one for the girl he made this song for if she becomes his wife, that’s pretty romantic.
ToluDadi Featuring Gyakie & Joojo Addison – Faya
Tolu came with the faya this week, an afrobeat jam for the weekend indoor parties, yes we are isolating in style and this song right here is what you need. The best part of the song is the features, Jojo Addison and Gyakie came through with so much positive energy on this song and just like the title, the song is fire, get your dance moves and jam to this.
Nasty C – There they Go
Nasty is out spitting fire on his new song “there they go”, he knows we need music during these times so he had to come through for this with this one. If you’re out hating on someone’s hustle or trying to pull anyone down, this one if, for you, Nasty C made this purpose for people like you, “you ain’t got no vision, I’m still spending, cause I’m that nigga”, instead of hating on other people’s success or snitching why don’t you stay focus on your own vision and work towards it, free advice there you go.
Teebee Featuring Kaylia – Your Mind
Nigerian-Canadian artist Teebee just released his first single of the year called “Your Mind“. “Your Mind” is the perfect blend of the West African afrobeats genre and dancehall. Since the release of his collaborative EP “ICY” back in December of 2018, Teebee has been on the constant move and is highly motivated for this year even though 2020 has been crappy for everyone.
Biqo – Mafe Wo
There’s a different feeling when males express their emotions and the way they feel in their music, females are known for being vulnerable when it comes to love so it’s quite normal to hear an emotional song from a female but when it’s coming from the male side it hits differently and that’s exactly what Biqo’s new song “Mafe Wo” (I miss you) is doing to us right now, send this song to a loved one to show how much you miss them, enjoy it if you miss yourself too.
Ginius – Cheche
If you’re a fan of South Africa House or gqom music then this one here is for you, we’ve never been this enthused about raw beats without music like we are with this one. “Cheche” is actually just a beat produced by Ginius herself and there’s no particular message in there however she just wants people to have fun with it and feel some joy in isolation whiles working out, baking or simply dancing.
Dj Akuaaa featuring Boijake & Tibu – Feelings
Love and music are two things that can never go wrong and Dj Akuaa has proven it in her new self produced song “feelings” featuring Boijake and Tibu. The boys sing about their lovers and what they do for them when it comes to expressing their feelings and how much they love their significant others, we are loving this and we hope you enjoy this as much as we do.
