Artistes from the East African country you should definitely be on the lookout for.
Over the recent years, Afrobeats, Amapiano, Singeli, and other genres of African music have gotten global recognition. People have expanded their music taste to accommodate the ever-growing African music industry.
With this, comes the exploration of musical acts across Africa who are on a journey to make a name for themselves and etch it into the history books for years to come.
We’ve decided to shed a spotlight on artists from Kenya who are trying to do just that.
Nikita Kering

Nikita Kering is a singer-songwriter with R&B influences. She got her first break in 2018 when she released her debut single, “Happy with You” when she was just 16 years old. She is signed to Universal Music Africa and was selected as one of Mr Eazi’s #Empawa100 artists. Through that program, she released her first video for her single Tragedy. Her hit songs include “Ex”, “Better Than Ever” and “Where You Been”.
Trio Mio

A 17- year old singer-songwriter who rose to fame in 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdown. He works under the management of his mother and is signed under his own record label – Trouble Music. His hit songs include “Cheza Kama Wewe”, “Fine Settings”, “Steppa” and “Dweet”.
Blinky Bill

Bill Sellanga is a Kenyan musician, DJ, and producer based in Nairobi, Kenya. His music is a modern blend of hip-hop, pop, funk, and jazz. His music journey began when he founded the music and arts collective, Just a Band, which started to make music in 2008. Blinky Bill’s discography includes 2 solo projects and 3 projects with Just a Band. He has worked with artists such as Goldlink, Sampa the Great, Emawk, and Petit Noir. His hit songs include “Jam Now, Simmer Down”, “Ama Aje” and “Atenshan”.
Nadia Mukami

Nadia Mukami is a Kenyan singer and songwriter. She released her debut EP, African Popstar, in October 2020. The EP featured Khaligraph Jones, Maua Sama, Fena Gitu, DJ Joe Mfalme, Sanaipei Tande, Nigeria’s Orezi, Zimbabwe’s Tamy Moyo, and Lioness Nam from Namibia. She was also nominated for the HiPipo awards in 2020. In 2021 she was nominated for the first time for MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA).
