Merry-Lynn is back with her new single ‘London Bridge’

Emerging Nigerian singer Merry-Lynn does not shy away from wearing her heart on her sleeve. Merry-Lynn’s music acts as a canvas for her emotions, where she shares her feelings with her listeners. Artists such as Erykah Badu, Amy Winehouse, Asa, and Sade played an influential role in her sound. As an artist, Merry-Lynn grew up around music but did not begin having thoughts as an actual performer until high school, inspired by her time spent in a choir.

She spent time writing songs in her spare time, taking the time to develop her craft. Merry-Lynn successfully developed her vocal skills and learnt a lot about performance whilst part of the girl group Mercy Singers for two years.

Merry-Lynn’s first debut EP Petrichor was released in 2019, a sultry blend of soul, jazz, reggae and RnB. The EP showcased why she is an artist to have on your radar. Drawing upon anger, hurt, love, and heartbreak to create a debut project that sounds beyond its years.

The emerging artist is back with her first single of the year titled ‘London Bridge’, which is featured on her forthcoming EP.

Merry-Lynn shared a few words on her new single:

“London bridge is a song about my alter ego, she’s signing out of a relationship that clearly isn’t working for her by seeing someone else and leaving, just having a great time and putting herself first and that includes her sexual needs as the lyrics ‘London bridge is falling down’ signifies going down with the new man.

Fergies‘London Bridge inspired the name of the song’ ‘every time you come around you make my London Bridge go down’. I felt it was a less explicit way of expressing my emotions. I also like the fact that everyone can sing along to it.”

The singer’s last song, ‘Runaway,’ amassed over 100,000 streams across DSP’s. Lynn focuses on elevating the alternative music scene and culture by telling her stories. She’s building a strong fan base that recognises and appreciates her qualities as a musician.
