Ghanaian-Filipino alt-pop artist Anabel Rose, after an eventful 2024 where she released her debut project “Something About A Rose” kicks starts the year with new music. Ushering in a new chapter, she embodies a more confident and edgier persona with her new single.
“How I Want It” is a mid-tempo alt-R&B single that draws out Anabel’s bolder self. Produced by Insvne Auggie, the sultry yet vibrant song rides the line between flirtation and full-blown intention that sways from the hesitant stance she took on her previous single “Lungs”. The song reveals a lover who craves connection and transparency. “I wanna know bad you want it… Is it bad how I want it?”
The song shifts to a more addictive form where Anabel shares how intimacy can be addictive on its own. “My chocolate… You’re so sweet to me… I need a fix… No counterfeit… I’ll never quit,” and “Dive my river… Let it rain when I’m tingling… Steady the rhythm… Locking eyes.” “How I Want It” is the balance between a lover and yearner.
