Creative Spotlight: Nsikak David

Creative Spotlight is a segment that puts some of the most talented and innovative Creators and Creatives living in Africa and the Diaspora in the limelight. It is our way of letting you discover the people behind the creative works that you see, listen to or wear on a daily basis. Today, the creative we will be spotlighting is none other than Nigerian Guitarist, Composer and Producer, Nsikak Okon David.

Tell us a little about your background.

Originally from Akwa Ibom Nigeria, I was born in Port Harcourt, as the youngest of four siblings. My passion for music ignited at the tender age of five when I joined the church choir. I quickly discovered my talent for playing various musical instruments, starting with the drums before moving on to the keyboard, bass, and ultimately, the guitar. Influenced by my father’s love for reggae and highlife music as well as inspirational performances of Lucky Dube and the band, I developed an appreciation for the band at the back playing the instruments at performances. My ability to blend various musical styles and create something uniquely mine has solidified my reputation as a versatile and sought-after musician. Bestowing me with a rich history of being part of renowned bands and performances with some of the biggest names in the transcontinental music landscape. Over the years, I have recorded with top flight artists such Asa,Tems,Davido,Rema, Angelique Kidjo and have shared celebrated stages at the likes of Dreamville festival,Afronation and Brits awards. My brand name is my birth name, Nsikak David.
