UK-born Multi-Talented Ghanaian artist, Kay-T, has announced his first single of the year. The song is titled “PA”. The new track follows Kay-T’s similar sonic approach from his last song “Yenda”, which featured Medikal and QV in 2022.
Produced by his longtime collaborator/friend and beatsmith, Uche B, “PA ” possesses all the intimacy and nostalgia of early 2000s Ghanaian hiplife/hip-hop music; silly but fun rap verses, youthful Ghanaian Jargons, and a catchy hook. The thick bass line and synth set a mood for grooviness in the song, allowing Kay-T to glide effortlessly with his verse. Medikal and Asaaka’s prolific rapper, Jay Bahd shows up as the perfect counterpart, fitting into Kay-T’s world instead of trying to bend him to theirs, with verses tailored perfectly to fit into Kay-T’s vision for the song.
Kay-T’s 2017 hit “Teeshi”, shot him into the limelight, making him one of the frontiers for New Age hip-hop in Ghana. He has since backed the claim with several releases, with his 2021 song AOT, becoming a fan favourite amongst the Anime community on Tiktok. Kay-T’s creative skills stretch beyond the booth. Behind a lens, he is also an award-winning director and CEO of Hawk-Eye Cinema under the Alias KTO. Directing some of the finest videos for his peers.
