It maybe May, but Summer has started with the new Iyke Parker and Leonardoddj single with Ghanaian collective 99phaces.
Titled “Pain and Pleasure” the song is the duo’s second single of the year but collective’s first music appearance since the release of their tape SWMAT in March 2023.
The song is about releasing your inhibitions and surrendering to the pleasures of having a good time despite the challenges you may be experiencing. The song finds the balance between sweet and sour, fun and boredom etc which leaves the listener to choose their poison. Hence the lyrics “Pain and pleasure. Don’t have to feel the pressure yeah..Good Time’s a treasure…Don’t leave it for whoever yeah…If you want it you can have it.”
With verses from Anabel Rose and Freddie Gambini, the song is House record fused with Anabel’s R&B foundation and bridge that combines Freddie’s Rap and Anabel’s flow. The lyrics and delivery gets you hooked into the song’s groove which mimics the joy of a great time out.
