For most creative spaces, gospel music has been the roots of it all, especially in Nigeria, dating back to the 16th century. Fast forward, gospel music has turned out to be one of the pillars of inspiration for the Nigerian music scene, and one of its students is Producer and songwriter, 3plebeatz.
Born Bright Izuchi Godfrey, he traces his musical origins to the church, with the aesthetics of spirituals, gospel, and the blues forming the bedrock of sounds that have invigorated soul, rock, pop, and other genres over the years. He joined the choir as a young boy, starring as the frontman during worship sessions, becoming an active chorister, this automatically opened him up to the idea of making music as a whole. By 2010, he made his professional debut with his first production credit, before going on to produce more songs and a soul-searching journey that made him accept making music as his fate.

Despite inspiration from singing in church, he never really put out a gospel record. “There was never a time I went into doing gospel music. Though, I recorded some gospel songs as much as I was still recording other genres like hip hop, R&B, Afro-pop, etc”. 3plebeatz is not tied to a specific mentor or sound, his versatility is solely built on a series of sounds he consumed growing up, and this shaped his path with time, a tether that with his writing skills thanks to reading literature in school, and you have a prospect ready to take over.
3plebeatz’s trademark hovers around many sounds, especially Afro elements, from pop, soul to dance, with a creative direction that has no limits, allowing him to work with whatever comes his way. His debut EP had three songs produced by him, highlighting his diversity as a recording artist and producer. His second EP, titled “Téleios” comes with seven songs that define his craft with a better sonic experience.
