Every week, the iMullar staff round up ten songs we cannot stop listening to, forming the weekly list of songs known as “On Rotation.” You heard these recommendations here first. From South to West Africa, to the UK, each track is guaranteed to be a vibe.
1. Dada (Remix) by Young Jonn ft Davido
Young John (The Wicked Producer) teams up with the remix-assassin himself, Davido for this new rendition of his afrobeats hit, Dada. Davido fans are going to love this one as OBO gives the song an added flair we did not know it needed. This is the perfect song to pregame with before a night out.
2. WAIT FOR YOU by Future ft Drake and Tems
Yet another international crossover collaborating this time with Future and Drake. Fresh off Future’s newly released album I NEVER LIKED YOU, the trio come together to create a vulnerable RnB song to bop your heads to.
3. Look Up It’s Magic by Gillian Baci
Gillian Baci delivers on this slow tempo dream pop song. With a catchy ear-worm of a hook, you are guaranteed to start humming the song at random times during the day after a few listens. The song has a very calming and soothing vibe to it, like taking a nap on a cloud.
4. Mumu (Acoustic) by Mahriissah
Nothing more romantic than a love song that has the guitar as its only accompaniment. The slow tempo song showcases the vocal prowess of Mahriisah as she sings.
5. Lane by Sampa the Great ft Denzel Curry & Powers Pleasant
What do you get when a Zambian- born rapper/songwriter teams up with an American rapper and an American producer? Lane, a wavy trap hip-hop song with a remarkable flow is what.
6. Mr. Man by Fave
“Things you cannot say with your mouth, Will you say with your hands, I’ll respond”, are very bold words to start a song with but Fave somehow makes it work. “Mr. Man” is the latest single off her Riddim 5 E.P. and it has all the makings of a potential hit.
7. Dayana by Mr. Drew
The song title is a play on the name “Diana”. The song has a playful bounce to it and is predicted to be another hit for Mr. Drew. The infectious nature of the beat will surely have you on your feet dancing.
8. 9 to 5 by Moliy
Off her new Afro-Fusion E.P., Mahogany St., Moliy gives us a mix of reggae, rock and afrobeats in 9 to 5. Listening to this song kind of makes me want to quit my 9 to 5 job because it reminded me of how stressful it is. Tells of her struggle to make it as a young creative who would not be bound by the strict schedule of a 9 to 5. Put on this song if you want to boost inspiration.
9. Damn by Ria Boss ft T’neeya
The Cat Mama recruits the help of T’neeya on this song. Damn is song number 4 on Ria Boss’ newly released live music album, Remember. Alto vocals from Ria Boss and T’neeya work in collaboration with the jazzy instruments to create an awesome funky soul song.
10. Kolomental by Victony
Anthony Victor, popularly known as Victony, once again shows how good his pen game is on this track. Even though this song will have you dancing, it has an important moral lesson which everyone can agree with embedded in its lyrics, “Make I face my front…..Dey my own lane as I run my run”.
