Discovery: J.E.N.N.Y

J.E.N.N.Y is an Afro and R&B artist from Accra that has been on our radar since his debut EP. ‘The Śingerman’ released last December is a recollection of different emotions J.E.N.N.Y experienced growing up. These were emotions that the artist felt inwardly and openly shared with the world very recently through his project. We selected three of our favourite tracks to share our thoughts:

Intro (My place)

We are introduced to J.E.N.N.Y’s harmonious vocals as he welcomes us to his emotion-filled EP that takes us on a personal journey. Produced by Jerrybeat we are welcomed to the artist’s bittersweet emotion in 33 seconds. A beautiful and smoothing entry to the project that sets the mood.

Far-away

An upbeat song that touches on the artist’s emotions felt whilst living in a strict home during his childhood. I know many of us have been there before. The track is a smoothing tune bound to get you on your feet. Although J.E.N.N.Y shares feelings of a time he could not express himself or do as he pleased, the feeling now that the artist can express themselves is felt through the vocals and beat of this track. This is a beautiful track produced by Zeldak and mixed by Jerrybeat, one to definitely look out for.

Red Eye

This is a smoothing tune with Afro-Caribbean influences that touches on a difficult situation. The artist touches on a period in their life when they had no one to turn to, as no one seemed to show up. J.E.N.N.Y reflects on how people tend to be around when you are on a high, but nowhere to be found when things take a left turn. J.E.N.N.Y uses this eye-opening experience to curate another beautiful track.
