Teasing his upcoming project, Sean Dampte enlists Afro-pop wonderkid Buju and fellow UK based Afro-fusion crooner, Nizzy to craft a track for any mood. PePe is a versatile song and as the the third release in his ‘Awoodah’ EP series, the UK-based Afropop and Afrofusion artist is proving to be a commanding influence on the rise of the Afrobeats sound within the UK.
PePe jumps straight into a groove from the onset with a vibe filled opening verse filled with ‘Pepe’ then as the song progresses, the trio of Sean, Nizzy and Buju each do their thing over the rich, animated percussion of the remix. The track boasts an infectious West African drum pattern, the perfect framework for an excellent collaboration between the three artists.
Speaking about the inspiration behind his new ‘Pepe (Remix)’ single, Sean Dampte says:
“…sometimes I find it difficult to fully express myself without my mother tongue, which is Yoruba. ‘Pe’ is the Yoruba word for complete and ‘pepper’ is Nigerian street slang for money, so the song title ‘Pepe’ is short for expressing that ‘Pepper pe’ ”
