NEW SOUNDS – WEEK 36
Each week, we accumulate a list of newly released songs that we think you should hear because music is the only universal language of peace and love. Here are some of the best releases you may have missed this week and don’t forget who put you on these sounds.

Bosom P Yung – Nyinya
Bosom P Yung, the traditional trapper as he prefers to be called, released a love Afrobeat song titled “Nyinya” 2 days ago and we think you should hear it. He hopelessly professes his love for a girl swearing to do anything in his power to prove how much he loves her.
Amaarae – Fancy
Amaarae’s “Fancy” is the reason why we can’t wait for her upcoming project. Known for her angelic voice and the use of sensual words in her songs which is clearly seen in “Fancy”, Amaarae seems to be raising the bar only she can reach. The video directed by Nicol Sey is not just fancy but it’s also aesthetically pleasing.
Hbee – Special
Following the release of his successful hit “Totori ”, Hbee comes through with a new single titled “Special”. The song appreciates the beauty of the African woman and how special she is. Hbee goes on to sing about how special she is, the kind of love and good vibes that comes with falling in love with a beautiful African woman.
Olamide – Eru
YBNL boss Olamide after releasing his “999” album earlier this year and a long break off the music scene has dropped a new single “Eru”. The Afro-pop song speaks on flaunting your wealth and enjoying your self, Olamide has no misses when it comes to songs like this so brace yourself and enjoy this banger.
Davido – FEM
Davido has a message for people who seem to have opinions on how people should live their lives. “FEM” is Davido’s first single of the year as he announces the coming of his album “A Better Time” following the success of his 2019 album “A Good Time”. “FEM” can be said to mean “keep quiet or shut up” as shown in the official video released an hour after the song came out, so to the people who have the power only to focus on people’s business, we say FEM.
Mr Eazi & Major Lazer featuring Nicki Minaj and K4mo – Oh My Gawd
The female body has to be one of the greatest works of art, one of the few things that can actually make you scream “oh my gawd” yes that’s what we are talking about. Mr Eazi is setting the standards high and we love to see it, on this new song titled “ Oh My Gawd”, he teamed up with Major Lazer and featured Nicki Minaj and K4mo. The song appreciates the female body and the power it has.
Sarkodie featuring Prince Bright – Gimme Way
Being one of the greatest artists of his generations, his success and achievements doesn’t look rosy all the time, it comes with a whole lot and he seems to have so much to say about recent happenings. On “Gimme Way” featuring Prince Bright, Sarkodie addresses matters that’s been happening recently and how naysayers need to give him way because he’s not stopping anytime soon. As they say, winners never quit, they just keep going for more.
Tecknikal – Rain Or Shine
Extrial Music’s Signee ” Tecknikal ” just put out his second single of the year, called ” rain or shine ” produced by Mikemillzonem. It is accompanied by some captivating visuals that was shot and directed by Victorious Films. The song of the afrobeat genre is filled with romantic sentiments, melodies and a message of reassurance to your significant other. ” I’m constantly trying to evolve my sound with each song I record, and with this single, in particular, I tried as much as possible to be different in the sense of creating something outside of the norm at the same time staying true to myself, “Tecknikal said.
Wondaboy – My Love
Heavily influenced by his relocation to Accra, “My Love” is Wondaboy’s newest offering to his fans. It’s a tale about how he’s enamoured with a young lady that wants nothing but his love: “She don’t want no Gucci, yeah/She don’t want no Prada/She don’t want designer / Eh, she say na my love, ooh-oh my love-oh-ooh/She say she dey want my love ooh…”.Produced by two distant producers; Nigeria’s Denzl and Ghana’s own Slimbo, ‘My Love’ couples the best of both worlds with a wholesome hook. To spice it up, the soothing piece comes with a vibrant video to match its vibe.
Krosszn – Zombie
Krosszn is releasing songs back to back this month and to launch his highly anticipated project “Fingers Krossed”, Zombie & Challenge the two lead singles from the E.P will be released on the 11th & 18th of this month. Zombie was produced by the Cyprus based producer Tactical Beats and Challenge features the fast-rising musical artist Loti. After the success from the Sins & Scenes EP Loti decided to branch out of afro and deliver a verse for Krosszn on a trap soul record.
The entire project will be out on the 25th of this month.
Mr S – Hey
After the success of “Explosions”, Mr S is back with another soulful masterpiece titled “Hey”. This time the Ghanaian crooner sings his heart out to a star-crossed lover, encouraging her to leave her man for him. Mr S describes the recording of ‘Hey’ as exciting and challenging and further narrates his partnership with producer, Mike Mill, as a match made in heaven. “Hey” is the first single of the singers’ upcoming EP “Pardon the Melancholy”. After what we’ve heard from his earlier release and this one, we certainly can’t wait for the EP.
Projects
Eugy Official – 4 Play
British-Ghanaian music act Eugy is known best for his collaborations like “dance for me”, “body” and “love” featuring Mr Eazi and King Promise respectively. On “4 Play” Eugy shows the world how good he can be as a solo act. The 4-track EP sees a more soulful, R&B and a little bit of rap from Eugy as compared to the regular Afrobeats/Afro-Pop that we know him for. He talks about love, money, success, lifestyle amongst other themes.

Straffitti – Straff from Nigeria
Straffitti, one of the most versatile artists from the continent is back with a new Afro-pop project which is out now. The seamless combination and transitioning of Afro-HipHop, Afro-beats, Afro-soul & Afro-fusion shows his eccentric style on the project, making it a refreshing listening experience from top to bottom. This is definitely a banger filled one with features from top-notch African superstars like Zlatan Ibile, Ice prince, Prettyboy DO, Buju and furthermore on deluxe KidaKudz & PsychoYP.
