Sounds From The East
With African music being the centre of attention nowadays, people naturally tend to focus more on West African music but I think it is about time to take a precise look at East African music. When it comes to Sounds From The East, you know The iMullar is your plug! With their diverse beat and flow, this week’s selection features artists like Ferow, MR.LU*, Hoosh, Femi One, B-Threy, Baba Levo, Rayvanny, Nvirii the storyteller, Harmonize, Navy Kenzo and Alyn Sano.
Enjoy this list in no particular order!
1. Ferow – “Freaky”
The Habesha princess blessed us with a mid-tempo hit a few months ago and we’re still not over it! If you haven’t watched the music video yet make sure to check these lovely visuals out! There’s also a dope challenge she started with Triller Africa recently and it’s super lit if you want to join it’s simple: post your video by tagging #ferowfreakychallenge on triller or IG.
2. Alyn Sano & Femi One – “Kontrola”
Kontorola is the East African collaboration we need right now! The talented Alyn Sano from Rwanda linked up with the one and only Femi one from Kenya to deliver an energetic Afro-fusion banger. Alyn’s strong vocals alongside Femi One’s sharp rhymes will make you dance for sure, make sure to check the visuals too! Enjoy
3. Hoosh – “100”
Hoosh is back at it again with amazing sounds. Make sure to check it out and carefully listen to his story in which he pours his heart out.
4. MR.LU* – “Top Mvulana”
Top Mvulana is the 7th track of the amazing “Nairobi Lost Tapes, Vol1” brought to you by the one and only MR.LU from Kenya! The 1sg single of the project was featured in the last edition of SFE!, make sure to check this masterpiece out and catch some vibes. Top Mvulana is one of our favourites, you’ll get addicted to the soothing bassline and the smooth chords.
5. Navy Kenzo featuring Tiggs Da Author- “Pon mi”
Navy kenzo just dropped a lovely track from their upcoming album: Story of the African Mob.
Their vibes are unmatched especially with Tiggs’s contribution to the creation, there’s no choice but to enjoy! Make sure to check it out
6. Harmonize – “Jeshi”
The serial Hit Maker, Konde Boy aKa Harmonize released a new Swahili jam and you need to hear it. The track was produced by a hunter and you know he never disappoints!
7. Nvirii The Storyteller featuring Ray Gee – “Lesotho”
Sol generation’s very own blessed us with a wonderful R&B track and it’s one of our favourites this week! Make sure to check it out and catch some vibes.
8. Dj Toxxyk featuring B-Threy & Trizzie Ninety Six – ”Nyumvira”
The energetic trio delivered a groovy kinyatrap track in which they showcase their lively kinyarwanda rhymes as well as their diversity on this rich instrumental.
9. Khaligraph Jones – “Tuma Kitu”
One of the best Kenyan rappers is back and is not here to play. This song is a perfect one to work out to or even cruise in town at night! Check Tuma Kitu out and experience swahili rap.
10. Baba Levo featuring Rayvanny “Ngongingo”
Prolific East African record producer, Baba Levo join forces with the WCB Wasafi Rayvanny on this classic number titled “NgoNgiNgo.” The prolific Tanzanian record producer Baba Levo teamed up with the serial hitmaker signed under WCB, Rayvanny and delivered an upbeat creation! Ngongingo will give you South African Gqom vibes infused with some Tanzanian sounds. Listen here and enjoy!
