Queendom is a word used in reference to a state or territory ruled by a queen. This is a word often synonymous to the best of the best or the creme de la creme when it comes to feminine beings. This week we venture into the Queendom of one of the most extraordinary female vocalist hailing from the Gold Coast.

Jane Awindor, better known as Efya has shaped the sound and the image associated with Afro-Soul. Efya is a soulful Ghanaian songstress, known as a singer, songwriter, and an icon within Ghana music. Equipped with a compelling yet mellifluous voice, Efya has captured a space within our hearts with her delivery and sound.

Efya has worked with the likes of Sarkodie, Wizkid, R2Bees, Yaa Pono, and Stonebwoy. In an interview with Modern Ghana, Efya was cited stating that Kojo Antwi, Aretha Franklin, and The Temptations served as key musical influences in shaping her musical journey. With such a range in influences, Efya continuously surprises and delivers sounds that are eclectic in the genre but yet remain true to the Afro vibe. Efya has over 11 years of experience thrilling consumers with melodies, harmonies, and range. She has contributed to pushing Ghanaian music to the international market through her performances and variety in style and genre.
