2018 delivered some outstanding releases from the country’s most dominant genre, but 2019 could prove just as if not more exciting thanks to highly-anticipated projects from music’s biggest names currently in Ghana.
The lineup of new releases is staggering. Powerful vocalists like Kidi, Darko Vibes, RJZ and Spacely are all slated to release anxiously-awaited albums for their hungry fan bases.
Meanwhile, rappers like the duo Fokn Bois, Kwesi Arthur, Mediakl, R2bees, EL and Kiddblack are unpacking new material, as well. Plus, 2019 could prove to be another huge year for women in the industry with projects from Deborah Vanessa, and on the way.
How will some of them top their past work? Can they elevate to even greater heights? From to, here are 8 of the year’s most anticipated albums.
Kwesi Arthur
A sequel of the Album that jump started Kwesi Arthur is scheduled to be release in the third or Forth week of February. The Tema rapper was suppose to release this project last year but announced the project will be pushed to 2019. The rapper apologised for the wait by releasing “This is not the tape, sorry 4 the wait‘
Darko Vibes, RJZ, Spacely, Kiddblack & Nxwrth
The collective are scheduled to dropped their individual projects this year after they release the Linkster Album. This would be the first time with the exception of RJZ to have released a studio album individually, Fingers crossed.
Medikal
Rapper Medikal has long teased his Plug Ep. Medikal is scheduled to release this project in March. We are certain Medikal has already release some songs off the Ep and we’re excited about this project.
R2bees
R2bees last year gave Ghanaians what to expect on their Site 15 album by releasing what might seem as singles off their studio project namely ‘We De Vibe’, ‘Boys Kasa’ which features B4Bonah, Medikal, Kwesi Arthur, King Promise, Spacely, RJZ, Darko Vibes and Humble Dis. The 15 track about is also said to have 5 features including Wizkid and Burna Boy and 10 solos scheduled to be release on the 1st March.
Fokn Bois
Ghanaian duo Fokn Bois have made their name through their style of progressive Afrobeats and their next Album ‘AFROBEATS LOL’ is no different from their style. Off the Album, True Friends and Wo Nim Mi shows how the Fokn Bois have evolved. The Album is Scheduled to be release on the 22nd day of February with Features by Sister Deborah, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Medikal, Mr Eazi and Dec Kwasi.
Sister Deborah
The vocalist announced some weeks ago the release time frame of her next project titled ‘The African Mermaid Ep’. The Ep she said will be dropping in the first quarter of 2019. Sister Deborah who was impressive on the ‘African Hoilday’ feature on Fokn bois album ‘AFROBEATS LOL’ is set to release some bangers, keep tabs.
KiDi
The Gyal dem Sugar after dropping his track assisted by Kwesi Arthur, Mr Badman announced his upcoming project Sugar. KiDi who is known for his power vocals and his ability to move the ‘Gyal Dem’ as his calls them is yet to hint the release date for his debut album. Keep tabs.
E.L
After release Collect assisted by Kwesi Arthur this year, E.L is expected to add another B.A.R his collection. E.L has been spotted in the studio with Nigerian Artistes Falz and Medikal.
