Shot by Curtis Essel & Nwabugo, ‘Almost an Adult’ is an intimate, vulnerable coming–of–age film that brings the music of Jords’ project to life. The film features the singles ‘Halos’ (Feat. Thea Gajic), ‘Rose Tinted Glasses’ (Feat. Jaz Karis), ‘Mrs Chambers Kitchen Pt. 2’ and ‘Patterned’ (Feat. Dotty). Shot between Kingston, Jamaica and London, the arresting visual discusses issues of masculinity, faith, bereavement, love, family, race and unity. Speaking on the film, Essel said
“‘AAA’ is such an intimate project, Jords expresses his vulnerability in various songs and this is a key element we wanted to mirror in the film. So humbled that all our visions aligned and we are all left with a timeless piece of art.”
Jords’ self–produced project Almost An Adult will be released on 15th May – a potent project, made by an artist waking up to their own mortality while also growing into a man. Recorded while mourning the death of his grandmother, Almost an Adult sees Jords fearlessly show his vulnerabilities, introspectively rapping over soulful production that mirrors early–J Cole and Wretch 32, two of his heroes. His slick bars, which transition from celebrating no longer having to hand out CVs to talking up his hometown. Almost an Adult will feature Jords’ recent singles the laid–back, sun–dappled ‘So it Go’ ft. Kida Kudz, the serotonin–heavy slice of R&B ‘Glide’ and the lo–fi hip hop cut ‘Swing’ – which ignited support across press and radio, gaining props from the likes of Mistajam, DJ Target, Dotty, GUAP, Nation of Billions, TRENCH,
RWD, GRM Daily and Link Up.
