Emotions! We all have them. We all experience them as well as feel them. Music and emotions work hand in hand. Every song comes with a vibe as well as an emotion. Some songs can lift your spirits, while some songs can ignite fury. The ability to make an audience feel emotions through music is a gift bestowed upon few. This week we explore the colourful catalogue of the talented Brymo. Brymo has demonstrated the ability to fill us with emotions and captivate us with stories.

Brymo is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and composer. His music is a unique blend of fuji, R&B, pop, and rock. Over 13 years, Brymo has produced eight projects and seven studio albums. Within his projects, Byrmo touches on topics such as social injustice, survival, religion, love, and pain. With such familiar topics, Byrmo paints vivid pictures of stories that can resonate with all.

Although considered an alternative musician, Brymo is renowned for his songwriting, versatility, and ability to tell the stories of his people. Brymo music is unapologetic, poetic and rare.

Good Morning

Good Morning is the 2nd single off the album “Son of a Kapenta.” This romantic and witty song was produced by Jesse Jagz of Chocolate City. Good Morning is a love song that is sung in a mixture of Pidgin and Yoruba. This song is bound to melt your heart with its witty and clever lyrics directed at the topic of love.

Ara

Ara means wonders. Ara is a pop song infused with techno elements. This fun a danceable song on the album “The Son of a Kapenta.”

 

Down

Released in 2013, Down is a song that captures the idea of societal rupture. Byrmo takes his time to paint a picture of the chaos embedded within society.  Down was Byrmo’s first release as an independent artiste.

Fe Mi

Who hasn’t been overtaken by love?

Naked is one of my favourites. This song captures the vulnerability associated with wanting love and needing love even when you don’t even feel you deserve love. Naked is on Brymo’s album titled, “Klĭtôrĭs.” Naked features Esse.

Do You Know Me?

I get my opinion
My demeanour, no be for your censor.”

Do you know me? is a rhythmic and melodious track which turns the common phrase “Do you know me?” into a powerful phrase for women. 

Strippers + White Lines

Strippers + White Lines is the single off Brymo’s seventh studio album “Yellow.” Strippers + White Lines is such a nostalgic song. From the instrumentation to the lyrics, Brymo was able to take listeners on a journey through his hectic night.
