iMullar SoundSystem Energy 019: A Night of Pure, Unfiltered Sonic Resistance

The dust has finally settled on Akosombo Street, but the ringing in the ears of over a thousand attendees remains a sweet reminder of the sonic earthquake that was Energy 019. iMullar SoundSystem (IMSS) set a high-water mark for the continent’s alternative dance scene.

The low-frequency thrum of Gqom, Afro-Tech, and Experimental House momentarily replaced the residential quiet of No. 19. The venue was transformed into a high-energy space that prioritized sound quality and movement above all else. From the moment the doors opened, the air was thick with expectation, and the “Sound Architects” did not disappoint.

The lineup proved to be a masterclass in cohesion. MoonC4ke, DMI, and Muud Swingz kicked off the rave with deep, hypnotic textures, laying the perfect foundation for B.Frvnkie, MA?, Que DJ, and TMSK DJ to crank up the tempo. The shift toward House, AfroTech, and heavy Gqom was met with an electric response, turning the dance floor into a singular, pulsing organism.

The highlight of the night arrived when South African heavyweight Que DJ stepped behind the decks. His set was a demonstration of the raw, percussive power of the Gqom sound, wowing the crowd with a display of technical precision that reminded the Accra music scene why he remains a titan in the South African electronic circuit.

Beyond the music, Energy 019 reinforced the iMullar SoundSystem’s unique role in the culture.  By strictly curating the Sound Architects to focus on the fringes of alternative African electronic music, IMSS provided a space where the crowd could engage with sounds they might not hear in mainstream commercial clubs.

As the remnants of the confetti clear and the ringing in the ears subsides, the sentiment remains: Energy 019 has set a high bar for the rest of 2026. If this is an indication, the local electronic scene should be prepared for an even louder, faster, and more experimental year ahead.
