Fridays are the gateway to The Weekend and what is a Good Friday without some new songs to jam to? We bring you new sounds this and every Friday to launch you into the weekend and so whenever you hear these songs playing at your favorite spot, don’t forget who put you on…
● Cheque – Chequemate
Cheque’s ‘Chequemate’ is a 6-song, 2 features, 15 minutes and 40 seconds EP that takes us through the journey of his life. While songs like Shine and Hustler ft Fireboy talk about working your way through the toughest situations to reach the top, Way Too Young speaks on living life and not stressing too much about the things that come with it. LPD comes with the bad boy-dancehall rhythms, the kind that the girls will love to whine their waist to, yup that’s it. Sunflawa which features Crayon is a typical Afrobeats song that describes a girl as a sunflower and all the other sweet things. Cheque ends the EP with God Bless Me, a song of gratitude and appreciation touching on what the future holds for his music career. If you’re double thinking whether you need to check ‘Chequemate’ out, drop those thoughts and click on the link below.

Sweet melodies, and amazing rhythms, are definitely something that the love and Afrobeats community will definitely enjoy. Dayonthetrack’s EP is the ultimate lover’s tape for everyone this season, there’s a song for everyone; trying to woo your lover, expressing how obsessed you are with someone or simply telling someone how much you love them with music. ● Juls ft Haile & Tiggs Da Author – My Lady
There’s a way that soul music captures you and drags you deep into it with or without your realization. The strings, drums, and the entire composition of the production are so perfect and that’s exactly what you get from Juls’ ‘My Lady’ which features Haile & Tiggs Da Author. Picture yourself facing the sea, with the cool breeze, something chilled to sip on and this song playing, there’s nothing more perfect than this, and oh, you can thank me later.

● Kidi ft Stonebwoy – Likor
As the love for Afrobeats sounds dominate the global scene, artists are drawing nearer and nearer and every time they do, it’s a hit. Kidi’s ‘Likor’ which features Stonebwoy is that song you can’t listen to once, it needs to be on repeat because the beats, lyrics, and vibe that come with the song are worth replaying. Kidi says he’s unlucky with love and every time he goes through that cycle, Liquor is his healer. I’m not saying alcohol is the best but if it gives Kidi enough healing to sing about it, then you might wanna give it a shot too. Stream Likor on all DSPs via the link below.

● Kirani Ayat – Her Vibe Is Right (Vol 2)
4 years after releasing volume 1 of Her Vibe Is Right, Kirani has dropped volume 2 of the tape. In case you do not remember, volume 1 had the popular Sarauniya, For You, and features from Joeboy, Efya, Magnom, and Camidoh. Now Volume 2 features the legendary Reggie Rockstone, Fameye, Pure Akan, and Yao King-Eli. With songs like “Sexy Sexy, Aisha, Woman, Affairs and Girlfriend”, HVIR is a tape that speaks highly about women; expressing their positives, loving them, and how it feels to love a woman whose vibe is right; it’s an amazing feeling, I can tell you that. If you think Her Vibe Is Right, then listen to the tape and enjoy.

● Nana Fofie ft Zuchu – Seasons
If there’s anything Nana Fofie will do, it’s to serve vocals and she perfectly executes that on her new single ‘Seasons’ which features Tanzania’s Zuchu. When the girls sing about love and emotions, you know it’s real, you can literally feel every word, statement, and how they express it. If you’re attempting to take a step into the love scene, here’s a perfect song to help you get into it. We all love love, don’t we?

● Tyla – Water
“Talk is cheap, so show me”, I couldn’t agree less with this line in Tyla’s new song ‘Water’. There’s so much people say when they claim they are in love but what are words if they are not backed by actions? Water follows Tyla’s hit record Girl Next Door which featured Ayra Starr. ‘Water’ sounds exactly like water, flows easily, is soft, smooth, and very pleasing to the ear, and trust me, you’ll love this one.

● Xenia Manasseh ft Karun – Anticipate
From the first few seconds, you’re locked in with the beat of the song and then Xenia comes in with the lovely vocals singing in some sort of despair, losing hope and wondering if things will go back to the way they used to be. You can hear all the emotions they put into the song. This one is for the lover girls who are looking forward to and anticipating a love that’s free and beautiful and devoid of any bad energy, this one is for us. ● Quamina Mp – Wahala
I’ve yet to see a person whose mood did not move from 0-10 after listening to Quamina MP’s music, it works like Maggie every time, and his new single ‘Wahala’ is no exception. Everyone is facing one problem or another but at the end of the day, life must happen, it has to go on so how about you put your problems away for a minute and jam to Wahala. The best part is, it follows the popular Amapiano rhythm and so there’s no way you’re not gonna love it.

● Yeboah – JOML (Je Ololufe Mi Lailai)
With a fast tempo and a party theme, ‘JOML’ is a perfect dance anthem that will get you itching to burst some serious dance moves. The term ‘Je Ololufe Mi Lailai’ originates from the Yoruba language and translates to ‘’Be my darling forever’’. Inspired by a wild night out at a club in Accra, ‘JOML’ is a celebration of the beauty and energy of nightlife. The song captures the feeling of being intoxicated and seeing someone who grabs your attention, someone who makes your heart race and your body move.

● Jbee – Just 4 Me
‘Just 4 Me’ comes off Jbee’s debut album HBK and it weaves in the chorus from Nico and Vinz’s 2014 hit song ‘Am I Wrong’. There’s something extra special when the boys sing love songs; it’s either they’re deeply in love or going through a painful heartbreak. JBEE is not going through a heartbreak but he’s just hoping he’s not sharing his love interest with any other person, hopefully, he’s just for him and him alone.

● Nanky – Yaa Baby
Done over a beautiful Highlife instrumental produced by Qweccy Plus, ‘Yaa Baby’ is one of those songs you can’t help but fall in love with on your first listen. The song’s groovy tune and sweet lyrics make for a killer experience, topped only by the ‘Quansimah’ star’s passionate vocals. Nanky is crazy in love, putting his feelings into showy rhymes that effortlessly bounce off the looping beat to deliver a simple yet infectious hook, “Yaa baby, come and see/My heart dey beat, e dey beat for you.” Once again, love wins.

● Ruger – Kristy
If there’s any genre called Afro-dancehall or Afro-Riddim, that’s exactly where I’ll put Ruger’s new song titled ‘Kristy’. The catchy tune beautifully mixes the lively Afrobeats sound with captivating Caribbean rhythms, and the lyrics, which are obviously about a girl called Kristy, tell a story of love, passion, and the quest for happiness.
