On Rotation: Songs you need in your life this week

Every week, the iMullar staff round up ten songs we cannot stop listening to, thus forming the weekly list of songs known as “On Rotation.”

You heard these recommendations here first. From the UK to Nigeria, each track from this week’s selections is guaranteed to be a vibe.

1. Samsney – Kuacha featuring Kelvynboy & Black Sherif

I love a good highlife jam and enjoyed how Samsney flips a classic highlife melody. Samsney called on Black Sherif to add his usual badness to the track, Kelvynboy’s smooth vocals with Darkovibes’ sweet Ga-filled verse.

2. Nesta – Jah Knows featuring Kucks, Kyra, Guiltybeatz

I love a collaboration that takes me by surprise and ends up being phenomenal. ‘Jah Knows’ sees Nesta link up with Knucks, Kyra and Guiltybeatz. It’s a feel-good rhythm to jam to all while giving God thanks.

3. Bellah – Prototype

I’m an R&B lover at heart and it warms my heart anytime I come across UK artists keeping it alive in what can seem like an oversaturated music scene of other genres. Thank you, Bellah, for giving what needed to be given with this track!

4. Mavins, Crayon, Ayra Star, LADIPOE, Magixx & Boy Spyce – Overloading (OVERDOSE)

A Mavins collab is always a good idea. Mavin Records features its new school artists in celebration of 10 years in the game, each flaunting their individualism seamlessly on this track.

5. TraviS and Elzzz – PRICEY

TraviS and Elzzz are some of Dublin’s finest treasures. After recently collaborating on ‘ICL’, TraviS and Elzzz linked up again with this steezy track.

6. Sango – Tongue Tied featuring asante

Another Sango x asante collab for our head tops, Tongue Tied, features on Sango’s recently released mixtape, Great Lakes Influence. Sango is known for having a knack for exploring various sounds and demonstrates that with this house/techno album. This one is for the Amapiano warriors!

7. K, Le Maestro – BACKSEAT featuring Nápoles

This track emulates the 90s vibes from the production to the visuals. As summer is practically here, ‘Backseat’ will be perf for those chilled nights cruising down in your ride as the sun sets.

8. Oxlade – KU LO SA

This melody right here is where it’s at. I don’t know what it is but it gets me every time I play it. Oxlade’s runs flow effortlessly over the beat. You could literally melt at the sound of him.

9. Kabza De Small – Ubumnandi featuring Nia Pearl & MDU a.k.a TRP

I think I’ve become used to excitable Amapiano songs that get you dancing but I like how calming this joint is. I mean, you can still unleash those moves but I’ve just been enjoying this as a song to match a laidback mood.

10. Gabzy – True Colours

The introduction to ‘True Colours’ is full with synths that reminds me of Teddy Riley’s new jack swing sound; then transitions into a Kwaito/Amapiano beat. A really interesting fusion from Gabzy & producer, Le Mav.
