NEW SOUNDS – WEEK 46
Each week, we accumulate a list of newly released songs that we think you should hear because music is the only universal language of peace and love. Here are some of the best releases you may have missed this week and don’t forget who put you on these sounds. The “Hot Off The Press” playlist is available on Apple Music, Spotify and Audiomack.

Sarkodie featuring Zlatan – Hasta la vista
Proving his versatility and ability to thrive in every genre, Sarkodie’s highly anticipated song with Zlatan titled “Hastalavista” is finally out. Fusing Azonto and Zanku sounds and rhythms, Sarkodie leaves his rap style and taps into the Azonto feels, laying each verse with lyrics and rhymes that easily captures the attention of the listener. Known for his witty lyrics and adlibs, Zlatan’s verses blends perfectly with that of Sarkodie, not forgetting his crazy Zanku moves exhibited in the video.
Ginius – Full Moon
Ginius’ leading single is off her yet to be released EP “how it feels”. In “full moon”, she delivers afro-pop vocals layered over a dancehall rhythmic flow making it the perfect alté song for indulging in sunset vibes with that special someone.
Joe Kingston – Coller
Emotion and vulnerability might scare the average person, but afro-rap artist Joe Kingston embraces them on his latest single “Coller”. The smooth single is an honest and affectionate declaration of love based on real feelings from years ago. His openness and sharp rapping make for a warm track that listeners will come back to repeatedly. Ransom Beats’ alluring afro-tinged production is a perfect stage for Joe to rap about his feelings, letting us know he believes in true love. The single’s video captures the intimacy and affection in the lyrics.
Sinam – Only You
Simple yet catchy lyrics on a slow tempo beat produced by 4eb. Sinai’s new single “Only You” talks about love and how it influences people to do crazy things.
Na-Ku featuring Trill Xoe – 8am on Lekki
Expressing the way he feels about a girl, Na-Ku shares his frustrations with love on his new single “8am on Lekki”. With a guest feature from Trill Xoe, smooth production and lyrics easily relatable to, Na-Ku 8am on Lekki deals with matters of the heart from a man’s perspective.
Kofi Jamar featuring Yaw Tog & Ypee – Ekorso
Kofi Jamar recruits Asaaka heads Yaw Tog and Ypee on a new drill banger titled “Ekorso” translated to English as ‘it’s going on’. The drill genre in Ghana has been massive in the past few months and this song is an addition to the many songs that will be loved and enjoyed by many. Singing on hustle, lifestyle and hard-living, Erkoso is easily a party jam.
Silvastone & Masterstepz – Feeling Your Melody
SILVASTONE has just dropped another new single and video, ‘Feeling Your Melody‘. A collaborative release alongside universally acclaimed UK Garage DJ/Producer, Masterstepz – whose 1998 certified UKG classic “Melody” is sampled on this undeniable banger. Feeling Your Melody” is a certified banger for all moods, whether zoning out at home, cruising on a motive or skanking out at the best rave ever. An Afro Garage banger that further exhibits SILVASTONE’s signature hybrid production style. A timely delivery just as Afrobeats popularity continues to grow worldwide and UK Garage enjoys a full resurgence. Biqo – Sei Nkoa
The final quarter of the year sees Biqo return with a new song titled ‘Sei Nkoa’ featuring Ghanaian breakout star, Fameye. On ‘Sei Nkoa’ BiQo expresses his love for his partner and ask that she remains patient throughout their journey of love. The mid-tempo highlife song is layered with soft percussions and a saxophone which is becoming BiQo’s signature sound. The old soul croons over the 3+ minute record and makes space for a brilliant Fameye verse.
Maali RK featuring Bobby EMA – Carribean Vibes
Caribbean vibes is a blend of afro, pop and EDM elements with genuinely creative use of voices by Maali RK. Bobby EMA delivers smoothly on this instrumental delivering the captivating and enticing verse “corny corny feeling,..” in his famous seductive voice. Caribbean vibes is just what it is, named after the sensation it stimulates in the listener, one girl saying,” it makes me want to wind non-stop, I love it”. The lyrics are succinctly delivered and complements the vibe. It’s not okay to listen to Caribbean Vibes alone, you just feel like you should pop things open and start a party

L.A.X – Zaza Vibes
With a history of hits like Caro and Ginger, multi-talented recording artist Damilola Afolabi popularly known as L.A.X has returned with “Zaza Vibes”, a fusion of sensual, mellow tones and tropical feels. Speaking on the album, he says, “Zaza is my alter ego – it’s a bad boy, lover boy persona, that I wanted to reflect in the lyrics on this album. I wanted to create something that would be identifiable and it will be understood that I created that vibe. The Album is supposed to help you go through heartbreaks and help you fall in love again.”

GHALS is the story of a struggling mind told with love. Asante talks about his struggles as an artiste and human who seeks to find his feet in the world. Asante believes the Ghetto is a state mind, not a place. “A lot of people don’t live in the ghetto but a lot of people are mentally in the Ghetto”, he said.

Recur Ep by Jweezy
Recur Ep by Jweezy is a beautiful expression of a phase in his life. A phase he describes as eye-opening and refreshing. J-Weezy, real name Joshua Obodo, is a budding emerging artist, Hails from Delta state, born and raised in Ijesha-tedo, Surulere Lagos. Studied in Delta state university and got his BSc. In Economics in 2015. His sound was widely accepted in college (Delsu) before relocating back to Lagos to develop his talent and passion for music
He has been approached by several record labels but has remained an independent artist. His last project, “Patience EP”, brought him some acclaim in the underground music scene.
