NEW SOUNDS – WEEK 30

Each week, we accumulate a list of newly released songs that we know would speak to music lovers everywhere. New Sounds is a collection of songs that showcase the universality of music. Music is the only universal language of peace and love. Here are some of the best releases you may have missed throughout the week and don’t forget who put you on these sounds.

This list will be updated every day with new sounds released this week till Sunday.

DJ Tunez featuring Wizkid – Cool Me Down

Wizkid featured H.E.R on his Afro Dancehall song, “Smile”. This week, Wizkid delivers something new alongside Dj Tunez in a production titled “Cool Me Down”. The song gives summer vibes. Consider this a sweet-sounding, smooth and danceable track showcasing Wizkid’s bold lyrics atop a dynamic beat by Dj Tunez.

Essilfie  – Mendada Me

Ghanaian Afro-soul singer, Essilfie has released a contemporary highlife single, “Mendada Me” Produced by Quist, the song touches on the doubts and insecurities of a woman in love. When asked about her inspiration for the heartfelt piece which translates to ”Don’t lie to me” or ”Don’t deceive me”, Essilfie expressed, ”I wrote this song by humming the melody on the beat and then later putting it in the melodies. The words came from bad past experiences as well as some of the terrible experiences of my friends.”

Yxng Jiggy – No Gidigidi

Yxng Jiggy releases a new single dubbed “No Gidigidi”. No Gidigidi which translates to “No Violence” or “No Rush.” This song features Luchiez. Yxng Jiggy comes through with a relaxed flow, stuffed with all the goodies. Visuals were taped by Afuro in Amsterdam. The visuals bounce between outdoor and varied indoor shots. Viewers are given a spin in one swank apartment occupied by Yxng Jiggy, Luchiez and others all fitted in hip apparel.

Trill Xoe featuring PsychoYP & Alpha Ojiji – How To Act

“How to Act” by Trill Xoe is a medium-paced tempo and catchy song that proves that the young Nigerian talent’s innate ability to spin modern Nigerian experiences into hip-hop. His verse is fast, catchy, and is bound to leave you bopping your head as you cruise past line after line. Trill Xoe teams up with PsychoYP and  Alpha Ojini for this catchy vibe. 

Rindss – Talk and Do

What are words when they are not backed by actions? The words become meaningless. In “Talk and Do” Rindss shares with her experience with empty promises and the pain she constantly goes through within a relationship.

Patoranking – Abule

The Nigerian reggae-dancehall singer/songwriter has no intentions of fading away soon. Patoranking has released a new song off “ThreeTheAlbum”, an album scheduled to release next month. The Afro-Dancehall single titled “Abule” is a street anthem everyone can jam to. The Telz produced song discusses Patoranking journey throughout a party and what he experienced there. 

Remy Baggins & Ejoya featuring PsychoYP & Mojo – Gboju 

GBOJU, (an extended version of ‘Ejoya, Class of 20 entry’ released earlier in the year) is a unique Nigerian Drill anthem, slightly different from the original UK genre. The track features verses from buzzing rappers PsychoYP and Mojo. This track was produced by Telz, who also produced Burna Boy’s “Wonderful”. The energetic single is Remy’s second official release of the year after his ‘Sakura EP’ released in March. It also serves as the lead single of his upcoming 6th project; “AMATERASU” slated for release on the 21st of August.

Mike Kesse – Oluwadara

Back on the scene with the energy of a thousand voices, Mike Kesse gifts fans with a glorious new single, ‘Oluwadara’. Produced by Vibehouse, ‘Oluwadara’, which translates to ”God has been good”, is yet another triumphant piece unmatched in raw power and anointing. Get your dancing shoes on and sing with Mike Kesse because ‘Oluwadara’ (God has been good).

Spc.Gh.st featuring Wanlov The Kubolor & Marince Omario – Non3 (The Birth of a New Wave)

‪“Non3”, the new single by Spc.Gh.st means “this is it” from the Ga dialect in Ghana, West Africa.‬ The song features Marince Omario and Wanlov the Kubolor of FOKN Bois. All artists take turns to serve us with witty punchlines, lovely melodies and positive energy.

 

Projects

EL – Leaks 2

E.L turns up the heat with the second installment of ”Leaks”. After blessing fans with the first of his new monthly series, ”Leaks 1”, E.L follows up with its successor, ”Leaks 2.” “Leaks 2”  is another 3-track playlist which boasts of solid Hip-Hop songs, freshing features and top-shelf production. Things kick off with the only solo song off the record, ‘Heroes Have No Fun’. E.L glides effortlessly over the beautiful production, delivering the funkiest of bars and flows. Track 2 is ‘No Peace’ which features Kev the Topic, Nana Grenade, La Même Gang’s $pacely and Dex Kwasi, being the most feature-packed song on the record. The final song ‘No Peace’ is crammed with a wide span of style, lyrics, ad-libs. ‘J.J. Rawlings’ brings down the curtains on the formidable 3-track project. It features Falz from Nigeria and Gemini Orleans from Ghana. The 4-minute track is laid atop a very minimalist beat and comes off as straight amazing with its fast-paced rhythm and delivery.

Atown & Kweku Smoke – We Rage 

Eugene -Clever Nii Odoi Okpoti known as Atown TSB is a Record Producer, Audio Engineer, Artist & a Composer from Ghana. Atown TSB recently released his debut joint tape “We Rage” with Ghanaian rapper Kweku Smoke. The 5-track tape features Kweku Smoke, Bosom P-Yung and Joey B.

Reminisce  – Vibes & Insha Allah 

Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru popularly known as Reminisce is a Nigerian singer/rapper and songwriter. “Vibes &  Insha Allah” is his newest body of work. The project consists of 6 tracks with guest artistes; Tiwa Savage, Fireboy DML, MO, Fatimah Safaru and productions from Krizbeatz, Sarz, TMXO, LooneyTunes and Aivert. “Vibes & Insha Allah” is full of originality, good structure and great production. The tape which was initially titled ‘30+ Vibes’ changed to “Vibes and Insha Allah” because his intentions for this tape was to send out positive vibes to his fans, not just a particular group of people and that’s exactly what he did.

Bad Youth – Master Groove EP 

“MasterGroove” is the debut EP from singer/songwriter & producer BADYOUTH. The 7 song tape & Interlude see fluency in the rhythms of afrobeats, alternative & R&B, blending beats and throwback afrobeat textures and vocal styles and the mellow brooding of his most confessional sounding performances.

Ginius – Happy To Be Outside

Ghanaian born UK based singer/songwriter and producer Ginius brings us a 3-song EP soundtrack which represents liberation, being free and most importantly has the “feel good” vibe after what the entire world has been going through. The self-produced “Happy to be outside” tape is guaranteed to get you off your feet dancing as it’s rhythmic nature registers the new Ampiano wave.
