Each week, we accumulate a list of newly released songs that we think you should hear because music is the only universal language of peace and love. Here are some of the best releases you may have missed this week and don’t forget who put you on these sounds.

Wizkid featuring H.E.R – Smile 

Nigerian music star Wizkid registers his first single this year “Smile” on his birthday track-assisted by American R&B singer, H.E.R off his upcoming album ‘Made In Lagos’. Wizkid FC has been waiting for this moment for the longest time.

Jay Cliff featuring $pacely, WhoisAkin & Moor Sound – Crossfaded

Moor Sound “made it bang” on Jay Cliff’s “Crossfaded” featuring $pacely from Ghana and WhoisAkin from Nigeria. With a cosy vibe and it’s soft rhythmic nature, this song would hypnotize into breaking your back to it.  

Dj Cuppy featuring Rema & Rayvanny – Jollof on the Jet

DJ Cuppy’s 11-track album titled ‘Original Copy’ is set to be released on the 21st of August this year. Track 2 off the album ‘Jollof On The Jet” has been released and it features Nigeria’s golden boy singer/rapper Rema and Rayvanny from Tanzania. The Killertunes production sees Cuppy, Rema and Rayvanny trade verses atop a calm, relaxed beat. 

Kay T featuring Medikal – Obi  Ne Yem (ONY) 

Ghanaian rapper Kay T’s teams up with AMG’s Medikal and Okese 1 on his new single “Obi Ne Yem.” With a vibrant visual, the artiste and the feature went hulk on the beat.

Adekunle Gold featuring Nailah Blackman – AG Baby

The Afro Pop Golden boy gives us a glimpse of his ‘Afro Pop Vol 1’ album scheduled for 22nd August and the world is ready ‘AG Baby project’. AG Baby features Trinidadian singer and songwriter Nailah Blackman who blesses the song with her beautiful vocals, the song is an expression of freedom, a little bit of lifestyle flex and who AG Baby really is. Sipho the Gift featuring Psycho YP – On My Job

Fans of South African rapper, Sipho the gift are probably still enjoying the ‘Bloom Ep’ but this doesn’t stop him from releasing new songs. Sipho’s new release is titled ‘On My Job’ and it features Nigerian rapper Psycho YP,  both artistes throw some hard rap bars on the 808x production talking about working hard, life, survival and making it by any means. 

Realking Deenasty – Badder than bad

‘Badder Than Bad’ is a song that tells us how lovers get lost in themselves when they are together. In this song, DeeNasty sings about his idea of ‘Badder Than Bad’. 

Sorakiss – 411

Sorakiss tells her love story in ‘411’, she talks about how she’s been through difficult times because of love and not ready to go through it again. Sorry boys, Sorakiss believes this love thing is not for her and she wants no stress.

DJ Hol Up featuring Ghettoboy – December

The idea of December is enjoyment, having fun and making merry. Ghettoboy narrates his December experience with a girl he’s trying to woo into a relationship. The DJ Hol Up produced track is an uptempo song with a danceable beat so get your dancing shoes and party like it is December. 

Laura Lora – Push You Away 

Ghanaian – New York-based rapper/songwriter Laura Lora tells us about the negatives of being in a relationship or falling in love with her. Girls can be complicated in their relationships but “if I push you away, it doesn’t mean I don’t need you”, as Laura sings in the chorus, it’s hard to decipher but once you break the code, you’ll have a beautiful relationship. Myx Quest featuring – No Apologies

Record producer and composer, Myx Quest teamed up with Manifest and B4Bonah from Ghana and Kirmane from London for his new single ‘No Apologies’. Myx fuses dancehall, R&B, Hip Hop and Afrobeat rhythms on this song to give us some sort of summer vibes and good energy. Manifest comes through with a solid rap verse, Kirmane delivers patois flows and B4Bonah brings a twist with his local Ashanti chant. 

Khalifina  – Today Tomorrow 

Khalifina drops this new jam she calls “Today Tomorrow” the song is about a hopeless romantic person trying to seek closure and affection from a loved one. The song embodies different emotions and feels throughout the listening experience. The song promises to make you fall in love Tomorrow when you listen Today. Production credit goes to Yo Figg. 

Moh – Wahala 

Layered on a Lexyz masterclass, ‘Wahala‘ is an Afrobeat song imbued with a great sense of elegance. The song is loaded with emotional, heartwarming lyrics and fine vocals, all which do well to connect listeners to the song’s theme: a woman’s desire for a stress-free relationship; one Moh is ready to effortlessly give.

Baba Kelani – Bamilole

‘Bamilole’ is really about finding clarity enough to want to concretise that lady who you’ve promised the good life irrespective of any “entanglement” you may be in. “A similar situation of entanglement happened to me, an experience from which I drew inspiration.”

Apollo Imon  – Devil Eye

Apollo Imon knows perfectly how hard life is, things can be good for a minute and in the next minute, things turn completely bad. In his new song ‘Devil Eye’ he talks about hard work, and the need to strive hard for success to avoid the devil’s eye. Watch the video for ‘Devil Eye’ on YouTube via the link below. 

Koffee – Lockdown

Koffee comes through with a new summer quarantine and chill jam titled ‘Lockdown’ and the visual see Popcaan, Dre Island, Skillibeng and more turning up. The star-studded visuals is a treat for those who love the social and sweet life, complete with linkups, luxury cars, and gorgeous drone shots of the South Coast.

 

 

 

Projects

Kriz Beatz – African Time 

The last time Krizbeatz released a project like this was 2 years ago, today he has released this amazing project and it’s called ‘African Time’. The Nigerian producer featured some of Africa’s best artists on this project; Teni, Diamond Platinumz, Ceeboi, Mr Eazi, Vanessa Mdee, Faze, Samini, Reekado Banks, Rayvanny, Phyno, Timaya, Ceeboi, Yemi Alade, Skales, Tekno, Obesere, Skuki and Ethics. According to him, this album appreciates Africa, Africans, our style, our scars, our dynamism and our strength and we couldn’t agree less. A beautiful body of work everyone needs to listen to.

Ricky Tyler – Small World 

South African R&B artist Ricky Tyler has finally released his debut album, ‘Small World’. The 14-track body of work carries guest features from the likes of KLY, Harvey, M.I Abaga & ALPHA P. This is a huge mark for Ricky Tyler because this whole album will sort of reintroducing people to his music especially those who might not be familiar with his music. But trust us when we say that the album is good because it really is.
