Santi’s Multiverse

Santi the star has many aliases, not unusual for most Geminis. Dudes like Kanye West are famous and infamous for their different, often multiple and sometimes polarising personalities. Santi as the undisputed starboy of the Alte scene, the nu school of creativity in Nigeria-is no stranger to polarising the masses with his visions, having been called everything from a satanist to a cultist by people who can’t seem to appreciate his fascinations with the occult, old Nollywood horror flicks, video games and anime and its influences across his music. 

As Africans, we tend to demonise/criticise things we don’t understand, however, Santi’s latest visual, “the late night show with Daisy Ola” is a short sweet intro into the many different characters and POVs that make up his Cruel Universe. From the beginnings of his journey as Ozzy B to the melancholic Santi that captured our hearts in Suzie’s Funeral to the  Monster Boy that always has us raging – Each of Santi’s personalities have always existed and reflected the culture and its individuals, he continues to champion.Here is our take on Santi’s Multiverse:

HAMMA SANTINO – a Monster Boy, Ozzy B and according to Santi the creator of Rapid Fire and Sparky, this that Gang Way sh**, this that SPLA- the Santi that makes the brotherman, guyman anthems that has us moshing in our dirty sneakers yelling and searching for rolling papers at 2 am.

SANTINO Criminal – seen voguing in the ending credits of the clip as the baddest of them all giving us fanciful, modern arthoe chic, Santino criminal is a clear nod to the alté women who have always driven the cultures hottest trends- Santino criminal does not want STRESS, he’s a shawty you’d die for, nothing less.

SANTINO – is the moody creative in all of us- as the edgy, monotone unamused creator of Suzie’s Funeral, this Santi reflects a defining moment in his career, the storm before the calm, the awakening as well as the rebirth of the Santi we now know and love.

Cruel Santino – the genius, the leader, with the same playful and biting Nigerian humour. Cruel Santino is a combination of all these characters into one fully realised persona unlocked in one final BOSS stage as a manifestation of all the sauce.
