NEW SOUNDS 2020 – WEEK 4
Each week, we accumulate a list of newly released songs that we think you should hear because music is the only universal language of peace and love. Here are some of the best releases you may have missed this week and don’t forget who put you on these sounds.

Bjay – “Yesu”
The melodies in “Yesu” are very inspirational because it carries emotions in the lyrics and drives the listener to capture Bjay’s pain.
The song has a trap beat but carries a message everyone can relate to. “Yesu”, is layered with a soft lead electric guitar that drives the minor keys, and a sound that signifies the sounds of a church bell. In all, the beats and the lyrics create the pain and struggle people go through in this journey of life but with God (Yesu), there’s hope for a better tomorrow.
Mrana featuring Fameye – “Who born you”
There’s something different about this song and it’s all in the beat, it has the traditional “Jana beat” with some lyrics from one of our old jams “obiaa nye obiaa” directly translated as “nobody is nobody” and that’s what Imrana and Fameye are talking to us about. Nobody is superior regardless of who you are or where you think come from, at the end of the day we are all humans and that’s all that matters. Period!!
Koko Bongo – “105 seconds”
What’s life without taking risks? I mean it’s risky to take risks but there’s nothing more painful than knowing you could have tried something to make things work but you decided not to take any risk. 105 seconds is a hip hop song with deep flows from taking risk in life, going the extra mile and working extra hard to make things work, making reference to the late Kobe Bryant’s effort in growing the lakers team, Koko Bongo raps about seasons and times and how things will ultimately work for your good if you put in the maximum energy.
Blaerman – “Side”
Slide is a song which talks to the female gender about confidence in themselves, to let every female feel like they are the most beautiful creation in the world. To a man, the slide says exactly what they would like to tell their partners but won’t because, “men“, you know? Slide is a song I think everybody can relate to because it also talks about the thing we all have or feel in common which is Love. The track is a blend of different music genres/styles and does a really good job of taking you through multiple emotions with its melodies.
Okai featuring Bryan the Mensah & Nana Owusu – “Red Eye”
Okai teams up with Bryan the Mensah and Nana Owusu to bring this trap-inspirational jam titled “Red Eye”, the message in this song is straightforward and clear, talking about “red-eye”, anyone with a red-eye is necessarily not sad or in tears but most often they are serious about something or they are fighting hard for things to be done, no time to waste, no negative energy just positive energy to make things work this year and we are here for all of that.
Navy Kenzo – “Why Now”
Tanzanian afro-pop duo Navy Kenzo have a distinct way of putting songs up, this particular song has a dancehall/afrobeats vibe, the duo talk relationship in this new song, singing about lovers breaking up and trying to makeup and all that comes with it.
Kiana Ledè – “Mad at Me”
Kiana kicks off the song with a rapper like verse when the hook finally drops she blends the classic melody with her sweet tone to set off the nature of the lyrics. The result is one that fans of Outkast would certainly approve as she flips the melody from OutKast’s “Fresh, So Clean”, she gives us undeniable attitude on the verses before serving us with the amazing hook, we certainly can’t stay mad at her.
MohFlow – No Promises (Syrian)
“Only if you love me, let me know, no promises” is my favourite line from Moh Flow’s new song ‘No Promises’. Born in Syria, raised in Saudi Arabia and based in Dubai, Moh Flow seems to know how to get his sound across through his diversity, with a voice that is pleasing to the ear and soul-touching, no promises describes a relationship with a said lover talking about not making promises but showing actions if only the love is real.
Ms Kumi featuring Myra Kay – “No fear”
The new year agenda still continues as Ms Kumi comes through with “No Fear” featuring Myra Kyra, talking about being brave in anything you’re trying to do this year regardless of the area or space you find yourself in, push all fears away, put on your big girl outfit and do what has to be done with no fears.
Jason Aziz – “Jelly”
This song is actually something different, it talks about seeing women’s body as a work of art, the song is a feel-good song, it talks about how mesmerizing it is to watch a girl move her body beautifully, to paint out the rhythm of something with movement that it affects the mind is not an easy feat. It talks about the sophistication and affection that comes with a girl dancing, it’s almost ethereal. The excitement on my face writing this is exactly how you’ll feel listening to Jelly by Jason Aziz.
Magnom featuring Social – “Whine Am”
Magnom is definitely one of the best when it comes to body language type of music, he’s definitely top 5 on my list, he just knows how to appreciate the female body in his songs and that’s exactly what he did in his new song “whine am” featuring Social Mulla, just like the title you know exactly what to expect, get you to groove and whine to the song.
Boi Mack – “Stunna”
Boi Mack’s new song “Stubbs” talks about the daily hustle and struggle to make it out there, the dream to be independent, live the good and comfortable life, I mean this and many more is what we are all working for, for everybody who needs the motivation to keep going, this is what you need.
TAPES
Tiwa Dara – “Soul & Groove”
Tiwa Dara’s Ep is one that can be described as a blend of soulful vocals and distinct beats to vibe to. The 8-track project has songs like Alive, fantasy and headshot which was released ahead of the EP amongst others, an amazing set of songs you can groove to anytime anywhere considering the fact that it’s has a little bit of afro soul, afrobeats and has a song in there for everyone, enjoy.
Moor Sound – “Let It Bang 3”
The In-House Producer/DJ of RGG studios, Moor Sound, keeps the franchise for his “Let it bang” mix flowing through 2020. The Volume three is here and it features Ghana’s Non-Stop slaps from the hip hop scene, sounds that have shaped the new era’s path. Moor Sound delights in a kind of controlled chaos. The forty-minute set is a juggernaut of pile-driving kick drums songs to thundering lyrics from songs in the trap scene. From Rosso’s “Aseti” to La Meme’s “snakes”, the Mix also comes with Bangers overseas that are tipping charts, from pop Smoke back to King Joey’s slaps. It’s the type of mix you can leave to play at functions or a party.
