Get in Weekend Mode

I had a short conversation with Layla Fenton who is an amazing Ghanaian-Uk based songstress, on her new single ‘Weekend’ which features Kelvin Mo. Layla for busted unto the music scene with ‘Liar’ track assisted by Kirani Ayat and produced by Kuvie. In our conversation, Layla disclosed the energy behind weekend off her forthcoming project.

M – What inspired “Weekend”?
LF – Honestly? I heard of some experiences from ladies and men both close and not so close to me about the side relationships their partners were in and funny enough, the other half of them had a side relationship with other people whilst their partners had theirs or didn’t. Confusing right? Yurp! so I to speak on it.

M – Which headspace was you in?
LF – A few days before my studio session, I thought over their experiences and thought why not write a song about it? and here we are.

M – What/Who are you speaking to?
LF – I am speaking to everyone that can relate to side relationships. I wrote this song not only talking to people who have experienced such but to those who can openly think of such relationships and have a deep discussion on it, Yurp I am talking about y’all out there.

M – How did the collaboration with Mo happen and why did you pick him?
LF – Kuvie (a Ghanaian producer) suggested Kelvin Mo. I heard his song “Kudi” loved it and agreed on having him on the song with me. Woah! His verse. Need I say more?

M – What’s your aim with ‘Weekend’?
LF – Weekend is to entertain. It is not directed at a group of people but just for people to relate to & jam too!!

M – Tell us about your up and coming project
LF – Videos! Videos ! & more videossssss!!! Haha! Yurp! A whole bunch of videos. Oh ! & an EP. My new Ep means so much to me. Can’t say much now but it’s sooner than you think. 🙈

M – Anything you wanna add?
LF – I just want to say, I appreciate all the love and support from each and every one of you. Just keep being loud about it so I know who I’m feeding when I make it. Promise x.
