Wunzooya Yakubu Alidu is a 20-year-old digital artist from Ghana specializing in illustrations, posters, and clothing design. He loves art in all forms: cinema, music, painting & TV. He is currently a third-year pharmacy student at the University of Ghana. He is a big Van Gogh and Salvatore Dali fan, “Their art resonates with me most for some reason”. He got into the creative space, just about a year ago taking some time to learn about graphic design, branding, and designing. One of his motivations to learn design was to be the creative director of his own brand, Noor Studios. He’s slowly and steadily growing his brand, mainly because of school but he’s in hopes that one day his brand will be global. He’s a freelancer as well, designing clothes, flyers, and logos for brands and businesses. To him, designing is like having a superpower, being able to bring visions to life; “Designing is really fun for me, well most of the time. Sometimes it feels like hell, when you can’t find the right idea or even the right font to use.”
What Inspired your decision to be an artist?
My decision to become an artist was inspired by my need to create more and consume less. I wanted to be recognised as someone who did something, not someone who did nothing. I want to be remembered when I die as a creator. Also, i had the idea and I didn’t want to see it go to someone else. I read somewhere, I think it was from a Rick Rubin book, that if you don’t actualise your ideas, they go to the next best person to do the job for you. I didn’t want to feel like the guy who never chased his dreams. life’s too short not to.

What type of Art do you do?
I do Illustrations, Posters, and Clothing design.
What story do you tell with your Art?
I don’t tell a single story with the pieces I make, but I always make sure I tell a story. could be something historic, motivational, or cultural. I believe art must have meaning so I always make sure to put some sort of meaning in every design or piece I create.
How did you learn how to make arts?
I had many teachers and resources at my disposal. It was mostly through youtube, Channels like Dansky, Doron Supply, Satori all helped. After I had so many lessons from my Insta explore page, Tiktok FYP, and Twitter home page. Most importantly. My friends taught me a lot, and helped me improve.
Who/what are your biggest artistic influences?
When it comes to my brand and how I want to build it, the Trikko brothers, Ibrahim and Moad really inspire and influence how I’m building up. and when it comes to art, Van Gogh is my influence, not solely because of his art, but because of how much he painted regardless of the lack of appreciation for his art. Maybe his lifetime wasn’t the right time for his art to be appreciated. He created timeless pieces that stood the test of time and i think there’s nothing greater.

What are some of your major works, collaborations, and exhibitions? Are there any people you would like to work with in future?
I currently dont have any collaborations or exhibitions. I’m still trying to break into the digital art space entirely but hopefully this year I will do so. There are so many people I’d like to work with. most of them are mutuals from twitter. Nk, Morganite, Jemima, and a few others whose name have frankly escaped me. In time, I’ll definitely work with them. fingers crossed
In 5 years, where do you want to be with your art?
In five years I want to be one of the most recognised designers in fashion and art. I want to work for big brands like Kith, House of errors, LV, and the likes. I also want to feature art in a major exhibition. I’m confident I’ll achieve that goal. I believe I can do anything once i’ve put my mind to it.
