Gyakie Relives Heartbreak Through New Single “December”

“Look into my eyes what you find, what you see is what you did to me. I don’t believe in love, don’t believe this would ever work out.”

The opening lines of Ghanaian songstress Gyakie’s new single “December” are words of someone who has experienced the pain that comes with love. Off the back of her recent collaboration with Nigerian artist Khaid, the Song Bird releases her first single of 2024.

Produced by Blaise Keys, the song is an R&B ballad with highlife elements that captures perfectly the pain and emotional damage Gyakie sings about. She evokes karma on the person who left her in pain but will not let her be just when she is gaining her freedom. “You left in bondage and now that I am free, you wanna tie up again”

The song is a sandwich of emotions that involves pain, seeking revenge, freedom, acceptance, hope, and moments of missing what was and what could have been. Gyakie’s vocals capture the vulnerability and rawness of emotions which compliments the melodic nature of the overall song.
