Hot Off The Press

Fridays are the gateway to The Weekend and what is a Good Friday without some new songs to jam to? We bring you new sounds this and every Friday to launch you into the weekend and so whenever you hear these songs playing at your favorite spot, don’t forget who put you on…

● Basil, Camidoh – Falling

One thing an artist will do is express their feelings and how they feel about someone in their songs, and that’s exactly what Basiil did on “Falling”. He speaks on the stress and challenges of falling in love and not getting the love back in return. Falling features Camidoh who adds his sweet melodies and further emphasizes how hard it is to give your heart to a girl and not get the love back. The P Prime-produced song is laced with Afrobeats rhythms, one that you can bump your head to any place and at any time. Check out this sweet sound from Basiil and Camidoh on all DSPs via the link below.

● Nyashinski – Good To Me

Kenyan rapper and singer Nyashinski knows exactly what a lot of us are going through and what we need. In “Good To Me” Shinki sings about the dynamics of relationships with ourselves and other people. He’s basically proposing a “do to others what you want to be done to you” and goes on to sing about the essence of having partners and treating them right, adding how important it is to love yourself first to be able to extend that love to other people. The best part of this song is the beats; it has a hip-hop feel to it but also leaves room for a laid-back sound that allows you to enjoy the song in a calm while soaking in the lyrics, you should check it out.

● Mfr Souls, Chrissy Day, Kojey Radical – Sacrifice

The only way to succeed or make it to the top is by sacrificing your comfort zone and going the extra mile. Mfr Souls knows this well and they understand that at times it gets hard, tiring, and tough but it’s pretty much the best way to reach your goals. Mfr Souls features Chrissy Day and Kojey Radical on the Amapiano sound titled “Sacrifice”. They delve into what it takes to reach the top, and according to them, it takes a lot of sacrifice and energy to do that, which we can’t help but agree with. In “Sacrifice”, you get to dance and do all the Amapiano moves but at the same time, you hear some great inspirational/motivational lyrics. How good can it get?

● Idahams, Eltee Skhillz, DanDizzy – Wetin No Good (Remix)

The girls are out breaking hearts and the boys are crying about it. We love to see it but Idahams and his boys are not feeling it at all. Following the success of the original song released in February this year, Idahams has recruited Eltee Skhillz and DanDizzy on the remix of “Wetin No Good”. The trio takes turns ranting about how each of their girls showed them ‘shege’, literally. The chorus “My baby, you do me wetin no good” is a Nigerian Pidgin which translates to doing something bad to someone, and in each verse, you’ll better understand what that catchy statement means.

● Qing Madi – Ole (feat. BNXN)

Qing Madi is back with her second single of the year, “Ole”. Right from the first few seconds of the song, the tone is set for a slow love song with soft drums in the background as Qing Madi jumps in with her melodious voice singing what I’ll call ‘Being a fool for Love’. The song features BNXN formerly known as BUJU, and as usual, he contributes some exceptional lyrics that further take the song a step higher. ● Rjz – Emotional Murder

RJZ taps into his singing elements one more time as he goes hard in the Nxwrth-produced “Emotional Murder”. The hip-life/hip-hop beats see RJZ sing and slightly rap about the emotional damages involved in a relationship with his partner. The switch in style between singing, soft rapping, and the lyrics, is the icing on the cake of this song and is one that a lot of people will definitely enjoy.

● Bella Alubo – Party Gyal

After a successful EP and a recent feature on The Notorious B.I.G G.O.A.T. with Ty Dolla $ign, Bella Alubo has dropped another banging song. From the title of the song “Party Gyal”, you know exactly what to expect. Party Gyal is a 3-minute fun-themed song with a sprinkle of pop and ragga. In this song, Bella describes herself as a girl who loves love, loves to party and have fun, and does all the lover-girl activities, basically talking about things she’s willing to do for her lover because her love was made for him alone. ● Geoxpress – Jo

There is a slim similarity between the languages of the Ghana and Nigerian people. “Jo” means dance in both and that is exactly what Geoxpress wants us to do with this record. Dance and move your body to this sweet melody as Geoxpress serenades his lover with sweet words that are pleasing to the ear and too hard to ignore.

On a cold night, in your feels, sitting alone or with a loved one by the beach, the perfect song to put on repeat is Dwin, The Stoic’s “To You” which features Ogranaya. This one’s for dancehall lovers and anyone who wants to jam to a good bop. Uk-based Ghanaian artist Mista Silva has featured Kwamz on his new jam “UNL3ASH”. This is the type of song you’ll want to hear at a reggae/dance hall festival or a Caribbean party or a Jamaican street carnival, that’s the vibe this song carries.
