On Rotation: Songs you need in your life this week

Every week, the iMullar staff round up ten songs we cannot stop listening to, forming the weekly list of songs known as “On Rotation”. You heard these recommendations here first, add to your library if you hear something you like.

1. Victor AD – Billz

I am not a massive fan of slow jams, but this song is special and has got my attention. A beautiful love song that is bound to get you swaying. Victor AD blesses us with his impressive vocals and songwriting with Billz. Not to mention the producer on this track killed it!

2. Nezsa – Trouble

To be perfectly honest, when this song ended, I had no words. Nezsa’s talent is next to none. She is in a lane of her own. As an emerging artist, Nezsa is definitely someone you should have on your radar. Trouble is a strong representation of the talent I talk about, sit back and enjoy ‘Trouble’.

3. Victony – Outlaw

The opening of this song sets the scene for such a powerful single. You know those songs that need your full attention. Sit back and take in the lyrics, beat and ambience that Outlaw gives. Victony has become a recent favourite of mine. I live for songs with a deeper meaning.

4. Zenesoul, Azanti – Is It Love?

A feel-good song that deserves space on your ‘favourites’ playlist. Imagine yourself on the beach with a cheeky cocktail, with this playing in the background. When I closed my eyes, that was all I could imagine, good vibes, sun and enjoyment. A feel-good summer is where this song sits in my mind.

5. Sconzy – Hope and Pray

If you love music with a Reggae influence, then you are bound to love Hope and Pray. Another song with a deeper meaning. Can you tell that these are a personal favourite? The song speaks for itself, sit back and take in Sconzy’s Hope and Pray.

6. Gracious K – This Side

If you love Amapiano, then this song is for you! This song is bound to make waves this summer. Another feel-good tune that will have people showing off their best moves in the dance. The beat on this track is crazy. Trust me. This is one that you need to listen to asap if you haven’t already.

7. Smallgod, Oxlade – Biou Biou

A personal favourite from Smallgod’s latest project, ‘Connecting The Dots’ Biou Biou gives me nostalgic vibes. Those love songs that you would hear at weddings when you were young, this is what this song is giving. A beautiful song that is bound to get you in your feels.

8. Davido – Stand Strong (feat. Sunday Service Choir)

No words. Such a beautiful song. If you have not already listened to this song, I suggest you listen immediately! Davido’s transparency on this single, coupled with the choir, is truly something else!

9. Kwesi Arthur – Disturb

If you have not listened to ‘Son of Jacob’, then I suggest you have a listen! ‘Disturb’ is one of my favourites from this project. The entire project is something else and a strong representation of why we needed Kwesi Arthur back on the scene.

10. Amerado – Obiaa Boa

If you do not know Amerado, I suggest you get into his music. He is a strong lyricist and his songs tend to have crazy beats to go with them. Obiaa Boa is a crazy tune, and his flow to match is next to none!
