Emerging R&B artist Nezsa, also known as Vanessa Adaeze from Nigeria has released her new single, “Break”. Nezsa’s has always had a love for music which has been heavily influenced by her parents and brothers, who introduced her to artists such as Yanni, Adele, Coldplay, Rihanna, Chris Brown, and Wande Coal growing up.
Also, being a part of her church choir, Nezsa has always had a flair for music but had never considered music a career until she crossed paths with artist friends whilst studying in Canada. In 2017, Nezsa met Rilwan and Kamal, who asked her to feature on a track they were working on after discovering that she could sing. The experience unlocked a love for music creation in Nezsa, opening a new horizon and officially marking the start of her musical journey.

Nezsa’s first project Bitter-Sweet was released in early 2020, which stands out for its intricate lyrical work. The emerging artist shared a few words about her work:
“I like to tell stories, but I don’t like to write from my own experiences because I’m a very private person and I don’t necessarily want people to know what’s going on in my head. My lyrics are inspired from people watching, from what I see in movies and shows, what I’ve seen people around me experience, or sometimes it’s just an imagined vibe that I get and I bring to life”.
Nezsa’s upcoming project, “To All the Heartbreakers”, will be released this spring. Listeners can expect the same genre-blending as the singer’s last project, this time in sounds such as r&b, alternative, and hints of afro-fusion.
