On Rotation: Songs you need in your life this week

Every week, the iMullar staff round up ten songs we cannot stop listening to, forming the weekly list of songs known as “On Rotation.” You heard these recommendations here first. From South to West Africa, to the UK, each track is guaranteed to be a vibe.

1. Sinner – Adekunle Gold featuring Lucky Daye

Something about this song puts me in such a “beach boy with bae” mood that I haven’t been able to shake. The violin instrumental melts me, and I can’t stop smiling whenever this song comes up.

2. Santorini (Toutouni) – Gamma

If you feel like you’ve heard this song before, you absolutely have. The problem is that just this week, I had to fight the urge to randomly scream TOUTOUNI at 3AM. There’s something about this song that’s so goofily addicting, and it’s really my guilty pleasure.

3. Hello – Akwaboah featuring Sarkordie

I remember hearing this song about a week ago and falling in love with it all over again, almost like the first time. Sark’s flow and Akwaboah’s lyrics work so very beautifully together, and I’m absolutely considering playing this on my wedding day.

4. Cameras – SuperJazzClub

I am so grateful I discovered Superjazzclub last year, and if I haven’t gone back, it’s because of this song. I love how different and groovy it is, and it’s tickled my boogie bone so much. 10/10 would recommend.

5. We Move – Kweku Lee

This track is the definition of a feel-good track in a very weird way to me. From the bass drops to how easy Kweku Lee spits, this has easily become a song I’m obsessed with and have probably played a million times.

6. Soft Work – Falz

This has somewhat become an anthem for #Softlife for me, and I’m not mad about it. It’s super chill and such a vibe that I can’t help but play this before I start my day. Just as a reminder of everyday softness.

7. SAD, U BROKE MY HEART – Amaarae

It saddens me that this masterpiece of a track is being slept on, but it easily is my favourite from The Angel You Don’t Know album. Amaarae is without a doubt the most talented artist, and so it came as no surprise, at least to me, that this song immediately became my obsession.

8. NEED ME – Gyakie:

Need I say more? This is the most sentimental, most beautiful song I’ve heard in a while, and it makes me very very excited to hear what Gyakie has to offer us musically. But I’m obsessed with this song. Definitely one to put me in my feelings.

9. Premier Gaou – Magic System

Those who get it, get it. A song that’s probably light years older than me, Premier Gaou has easily possessed me. Truly the most slept on, but it’s nice to have at least one song I can dance with my mom to.

10. Dabebi – Mr. Eazi featuring King Promise and Maleek Berry

Is it obvious I was seriously gnashing this Valentine’s Day? I like playing this song and singing to my mirror, proposing my undying love to my imaginary wife. This song came in clutch for me, and I don’t think I’ll be leaving it sleeping elsewhere. See what I did there?
