NEW SOUNDS – WEEK 26
Each week, we accumulate a list of newly released songs that we think you should hear because music is the only universal language of peace and love. Here are some of the best releases you may have missed this week and don’t forget who put you on these sounds.
This list will be updated every day with new sounds released this week till Sunday.
Siriboe featuring Kobla Jnr – “Confidence”
Siriboe is a Ghanaian visual expert, creative director and photographer, he’s extending his creativity into the music industry and his first song ‘Confidence’ is a great way to start it off. ‘Confidence’ is a motivational song that talks about self-love, confidence is the best proof that you love yourself enough to face the world, it’s like the first requisite to greater understanding. The song was produced by Fantombeatz and features Kobla Jnr.
Chief Kellz – “Jumping”
‘Jumping’ is an afro-fusion record by Accra-based artiste Chief Kellz, on this song Kellz enlisted Reezy 1/2 of the Eargasm producer collective who laced the hard-hitting African drum kicks with lush guitar riffs to give us a classic mash-up of a Fela Kuti string section and a 90s bashment yard type bounce.
Mayorkun featuring Davido – “Betty Butter”
Mayorkun is back with another banger after his massive hit song ‘Of Lagos’, the speroach produced song is titled ‘Betty Butter’ and it features DMW front-liner Davido. The song is a mid-tempo Afrobeat track with lots of word-plays and irresistible flattering vibes. Add this song to your playlist and jam to it before it becomes the street anthem. Enjoy.
Rema – “Woman”
If anything, Rema will be remembered for his bravery for accepting that he has a lot of women and he actually likes them all, only legends do this. Rema describes his type of women and what each of them has to offer and how each of them make him feel in his new song ‘Woman’ produced by Ozedikus.
Boi Mack – “Fire”
Life always comes with its own ups and downs, our ability to push hard is what keeps us going. Boi Mack added that he wrote and recorded this song when he was going through some life crisis.” The Juizx produced afrobeat tune is embedded with deep and soothing lyrics to uplift and replenish worn out energy, mixed and mastered by Trino with additional vocals from Kojo Moore this song goes out to everybody fighting their demons. There’s a fire in you just keep it burning.
EpiqMenz featuring Agbeshie – “DownTown Guy”
After securing 3rd place in the AfriMusic Song Contest 2020, the song that gained thousands of votes and support from the public and judges is now available for you to listen to, download and add to your music library, EpiqMenz releases his latest Afro-Pop single with production courtesy of Eson. ‘DownTown Guy’ features ‘Wrowroho’ hitmaker, Agbeshie. EpiqMenz and Agbeshie come together to use the song as an avenue to express their love and appreciation for all African women.
Questo – “Abrantie”
“The song itself is an unapologetic confession on cigarette habits by the lead role and also a #StopSmokingCigarettes movement to me personally,” said Questo. The whole vibe of the hook came off Joey B’s ‘cigarette’ which happens to be one of Questo’s favourite Ghanaian sounds out there, so it was just right to refer to this record since he has intentions of promoting his Fante culture in Ananse. The tape is scheduled to drop 8th August till then let’s all enjoy ‘Abrantie’.
Le Ru – Don’t You Dare
Le Ru shows strength in vulnerability and self-expression with her new single “Don’t You Dare”, where she goes off on a jazz-trap instrumental taking pride in her individuality, creativity, growth and what she stands for. She states that “looking within, remembering and accepting your self is the first step to that “glow up baby” “, and we agree with her perfectly.
Kensah – Gum Body
Kensah ushers audiophiles into his world of music with two singles, the first of song ‘Gum Body’, a spanking new Afrobeat record sits atop a Mykah production which does well to capture its cosy atmosphere. ‘Gum Body’ is undisputedly one for lovers and as such is filled with some sultry innuendos; all of which play off in a very subtle way.
Badax Bidat – Trapped
Feeling trapped isn’t as uncommon as we like to believe, most people feel trapped because they’re doing something they actually don’t like but they can’t say no because that could be their only means of survival, other people are battling with mental health issues and there’s no one to talk to, inspired by issues like this, Badax narrates his story in his new song ‘Trapped’.
SBeirg – Street Anthem
SBeirg is back again with a new song titled ‘Street Anthem’ after taking a short break to focus on his studies. The song depicts some of the common moves and behaviour in the streets, in the song he makes us understand that he is not getting the love he deserves now because he is not rich but once the money comes, it will come with the love.
Mojoaf – Chiwawa
Everyone has their ideal type of partner, Mojo seems to like his women in a particular way, he tells us all about his spec in his new song, produced by Ronehi ‘Chiwawa’.
Projects
Jay Manney – “AfroBeat god”
‘Afrobeatgod’ is a project inspired by love, intimacy and party life. “The project is to portray my act as a diverse musician exploring the different genre and how I view myself musically.” All songs are written by Jay Manney and features sensational singer Mikeygh, production credit goes to Richmonstabeats, Joey4kbeats and Rayn4llbeatz.

Camidoh – “Contingency Plan”
From his very first single, ‘For My Lover’ to his recent release ‘Hot Pursuit’, we have seen nothing but growth in Camidoh’s music career, after releasing several hit songs for our listening pleasure, he has released a 6-song tape titled the ‘Contingency Plan’ EP. The tape has no guest features and with production credits going to Nektunez, Laykay and La Slame, Camidoh is seen showing his Afrobeat prowess and expressing everything he feels about life and love.

Dj Tunez & D3an – “Love Language Vol 1”
Starboy in-house disc jockey, DJ Tunez has released a project called “Love Language” EP Vol 1 which was laced with 5 tracks with features from Efya, Siki, and Onosz. Dj Tunez tapped into the Ampiano sound wave to bring us this beautiful body of work, the good thing about this tape is you can dance to it if you want to and you can allow it to put you in full love mode, whichever you choose, we hope you have a nice time listening to it.

Praiz – “To The Moon EP”
Before you press play, get a glass of wine because ‘To The Moon’ is not your regular loud, banger danceable tape, it’s an Afro-pop, calm and soulful EP by Nigeria R&B artist Praiz that is set to put you in an intimate and cozy mood. The tape sees guest features from M.I, Ice Prince, Kingxn and Niyola.

J.Derobie – “Nungua Diaries”
For J.Derobie, Nungua holds all his precious memories from his childhood, growing up to date, he tells us his story, where he is coming from to where he is currently at as an individual and a musician, his love life and more. The 6-track EP titled ‘Nungua Diaries’ is a blend of dancehall and afro-fusion and it’s going to be hard to pick a favourite because we love every single song on it and we hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we did.

Dromobii – “Genz”
Dromobii is a Ghanaian music duo and its members are Paloma the vocalist and Muffy the rapper, the group have released their EP ‘Genz’ also called Generation Z. The tape portrays the daily lifestyle of the current generation, this generation is full of life and loves to be the life of the party, Paloma and Muffy talk about addiction and self-control, making moves and just being full of life. Songs on the tape were produced by Bhadboy, Chris Shaker, Kotiboomin and Bryan the Mensah who also mixed and mastered the entire tape.

EL – “Leaks 1”
If rapper and singer, E.L is known for two things, it’s spontaneity and originality. This was the case on the 28th of June which also happens to be his birthday, E.L surprised his fans with a 3-track collection he dubbed ”Leaks 1” and it’s our guess that this is just the beginning of a series similar to his critically acclaimed ”BAR” mixtapes, to cater to his Hip-Hop fan base. The playlist consists of 3 songs, featuring Ghanaian talents Kwame Dame, Yung Pabi, Blackway, Dr. Laylow, Yaaro K and Tradey. This compilation definitely got E.L fans in their feels with excitement.

Vibes On Vibes (VOV) is a Playlist that contains different sounds/vibes for different moods. The VOV playlist is a compilation of freestyles and a product of fun vibes and recordings. 5 songs, 5 features, all mixed and mastered by Toby $pades.
