Sounds From The East
With African music being the centre of attention nowadays, people naturally tend to focus more on West African music but I think it is about time to take a precise look at East African music. When it comes to Sounds From The East, you know The iMullar is your plug! With their diverse beat and flow, this week’s selection features artists like Seidosimba, MazMars, Diamond Platnumz, G-Salih, Otile Brown, Sauti Sol, Cosign Yenze Chin Bees, Nandy and Eaz Da Bully. 1. MazMars & Seidosimba – “KaifwKaif”
The sensational duo from Sudan have blessed us with a dynamic track titled “KaifwKaif “. The title means “how & how” in Sudanese Arabic and is used when you want to ask infos in the street, but here it’s being used as a pick-up line by a guy who is visibly not really good at this! If you do not know about Seidosimba and MazMars, you should listen to this song, you won’t be disappointed, they are one of Sudan’s best acts right now. Their song “Kandaka” has been featured in the first edition of Sounds From The East and it still slaps! Enjoy.
2. Otile Brown – “Kosea”
One of Kenya’s best artist, Otile Brown, is back with his highly-anticipated debut album: “Just In Love” in which Afropop, Raegge and R&B meets while themes such as love and relationships are addressed. This Swahili groovy track will definitely put you in a good mood! Check it out.
3. Krizbeatz featuring Diamond Platnumz & Cee Boi – “Abi”
Everyone knows that when the East and the West come together it is always a vibe! This song will give you summer vibes and you have no choice but to replay it. Every time Krizbeatz collaborates with an East African artist the song turns out to be a hit, this time he joined forces with The king of Bongo Flava and the Nigerian rapper Ceeboi. Catch some vibes and enjoy.
4. Sauti Sol featuring Bensoul & Xenia, Nviiri The Storyteller, Okello Max, NHP
The East African music moguls collaborated with some of Sol Generations artists as well as amazing acts from Kenya to deliver a festive track titled “Rhumba Japani”. The 12th track of the “Midnight Train” album is a modern Rumba song, basically, an invitation to party and catch vibes, make sure to check it out! Enjoy.
5. Cosign Yenze featuring Fik Fameica – “Okikola Oyta”
“Okikola Oyta” is a slow-paced track brought to you by Uganda’s Cosign Yenze and Fik Fameica. ‘’Okikola Otya’’ means ‘’how do you do it?’. The Uganda duo find themselves asking this girl about what she does to keep them hooked about their love for her! Enjoy Yenze’s sweet vocals and Fik Fameica’s dope bars!
6. Eaz Da Bully featuring YK “Piggy In The Middle”
Eaz Da Bully is back with his sick rhymes alongside the talented YK in this extract of “The C!rcle vs the world” project. Brought to you by the visionary Sudanese collective (The C!rcle), the track was produced by JBJ Beats and we can clearly hear the London influences in this creation! 7. Chin Bees – “Nasabenza”
The one and only Chin Bees from Tanzania is finally back with a tranquil trap song. His dope rhymes and his amazing vocals makes a good mix and show how good he is at rapping and singing! If you do not know about Chin Bees get to know him by listening to his hit “Gusa” first, you will love it!
8. G-Salih featuring Ryan Clarkva – Heights/Therapy
Here is another extract of “The C!rcle vs The World” project, this time by G-Salih and his sharp rhymes on a vibrant instrumental. One part of the song addresses the different feelings of an artist regarding the results of his effort and the different stages of his career. The other part of the song (Therapy) is a love story in which the reciprocity of feelings is addressed. Make sure to listen to it!
9. Nandy featuring Harmonize – “Acha Lizame”
The amazing vocalist Nandy is back with a love song produced by Kimambo Beats featuring the Tanzanian hit-maker, Konde Boy aka Harmonize and they are not here to play! This is a full Tanzanian creation and when the artists from the 255 join forces it’s always successful. Make sure to check it out.
