Inetimi Timaya Odon popularly known as Timaya is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur. Timaya is also referred to as Egberi Papa I of Bayelsa and Don Papi Chulo. Timaya is known for his ability to merge genres to create a sui generis sound. Timaya has created music that can be categorized into the following genres: Dancehall, Ragga, Afrobeat, Hip-hop, and Soca. With over 14 years in the music industry, Timaya has delivered audiences with songs for every occasion.

Timaya currently has a catalogue of six albums and one extended play. In an interview with EELive, Timaya shared that, “as an artiste, as a creative, public opinion could affect your state of mind, but it takes a lot of self-belief and majorly trust in God, not to hold that as a yardstick for validation. Nobody believes in me, more than myself.”

Dem Mama

Released in 2005, Dem Mama is a song inspired by the tragic occurrence which took place in Udi, Nigeria in 1999. Dem Mama was featured on Timaya’s debut album True Story.
