NEW SOUNDS- WEEK 16
Each week, we accumulate a list of newly released songs that we think you should hear because music is the only universal language of peace and love. Here are some of the best releases you may have missed this week and don’t forget who put you on these sounds.
OIEE x M3nsa featuring Amaarae – Still Dey Inside
M3NSA, one half of Ghana’s FOKN Bois, and Ghanaian-American nu-soul singer Amaarae bring their special flavours to OIEE’s production on ‘Still Dey Inside’ to create this banging tropical house vibe. OIEE is a Budapest based producer and songwriter in the European nu-disco, R&B and dance scene with both an ear for making incredible music and an eye for creating stylish videos. This collaboration with OIEE on ‘Still Dey Inside’ is a flip of their 2018 song SDI and a promising beginning of so much more to come. Enjoy the soul-laced bounce of ‘Still Dey Inside’ as we anticipate the two musicians’ upcoming projects.
Khalid Featuring Davido x Tems – Know Your Worth
One of the greatest things in life is knowing who you are and knowing what you’re worth, so many times we say this and people don’t seem to understand exactly what it means, Khalid has made it much easier for us all in his new single ‘know your worth’ which features Davido and Tems from Nigeria. Crossing borders and bringing us collaborations like this is what we are here for, this song is amazing because of the message it carries so here’s our little advice, listen to this song, know your worth and add some taxes to it.
Bully featuring Questo – Love is the Enemy
Finding love has become somewhat of a priority to a lot of people and that’s not a problem, the question is what if you don’t find yours? In BULLY’s interlude ‘LOVE Is The Enemy’ featuring Questo, she talks about LOVE being the enemy, the entire idea of love being the worst thing that could kill you amidst drug abuse, police violence, war and many other things, LOVE does cause a lot of damage, don’t love at all if you can’t love the right person. Just save yourself. This is an interlude because she plans on releasing her first single of the year shortly after. Enjoy this short, soothing yet deep interlude from BULLY.
Nii Amu featuring Kenxshin – No Conversations
The duo Nii Amu (Boomin) and Kenxshin collaborate on a trippy trap/hip-hop instrumental to gift us with ‘No Conversations’.
In ‘No Conversations’ Boomin & Kenxshin address their stand against fakes and focus on closed circles with unending vibes and melodies. The masterpiece was produced, mixed and mastered by Kenxshin. ‘No Conversation’ is available on all streaming platforms.
Maali RK – Do Anything
On the back of his debut single, Lucky Boy,
Maali RK switches up the vibe to the Afrobeat tempo with soul in this new piece, ‘Do Anything’ where he talks about how far he is willing to go to show his affection. Maali RK’s smooth voice and affectionate lyrics make this very easy on the ear with the BryanLee instrumentals keeping you on your feet.
Kwame Swerve – On The Road
‘On The Road’ off his upcoming project “portsidevibes” is a trap lo-fi beat produced by Txmo with top tier rap content, ‘on the road’ basically talks about his musical journey and how he finds inspiration to do what he does regardless of all the things he’s been through and what’s yet to come.
Jean Feier – Destiny
Jean Feier is here to blow minds with her new song ‘Destiny’, in this new song, she cautions us about how her mind works, how strong past struggles have shaped her destiny and she adds that she’s as strong as anyone can imagine and she will never drown.
Lörd Isaac – 2020/Coldfeet
Lörd Isaac also known as LeLord has released a dual single (2 compositions), this is the first release of the year showcasing his versatility and style. In his opening single, ‘2020’ LeLord talks about his lifestyle plan and more for 2020, the song has an energetic ambience adopting more of an electric sound and lyrics you can easily follow. ‘Coldfeet’ consist of high-octane sounds and features Michael Ang3lo from Nigeria who lays a catchy melodic chorus on the song.
Bra Purple – Wonkye Mfa
Brapurple’s latest song with Jvst Daniels and Abi. Deen is titled ‘Wonkye Mfa’ translated in English as ‘Let Them Share’. The twi pop sees all the artistes declaring intentions, talking about lifestyle and sharing memories in different languages. Production credit goes to Nico ontheBeat and Alhaji Swit.
DJ Breezy featuring Ceeza Milli – Jaye
DJ and music maker, DJ Breezy is back with his second single of the year called “Jaye”. the song features Nigerian singer, Ceeza Milli who gives the Breezy production the extra spice it needs, add this to your Afrobeat playlist and thank us later.
Ian Jazzi – Kpakpo Shitor
Kpakpo Shitor’ tells a story of the grind, Ian Jazzi likens tales of the daily hustle and bustle in cities to the hand manoeuvres employed in literally grinding kpakpo shitor – an infamous local chili. The song celebrates the spice of life, the hustle, the relentlessness and best of all, that satisfying reward after the days work.
WurlD – Love Nobody
Love is selfish and as much as we hate to admit it, and as much as we hate this truth, we can’t run away from the fact that we hate to share our lovers. WurlD sings about his lover not wanting him to be with anyone apart from her in his new Tmx produced Afrobeat song titled ‘Love Nobody’.
Magnom featuring Kobby Keita – Sadia
Magnom is known for giving us sounds that appreciate the female body in a way that we all love, the female in question today is “Sadia” and that’s the title of his new song produced by Moor Sound. Sadia appreciates the flexibility of the female body and the joy it brings to them when the body moves. Magnom in typical badman fashion talks about her arc and the way she throws it back while likening her flexibility to cooked spaghetti (yes cooked spaghetti lmao)! He also talks about all her jiggling body parts and concedes that she might be the death of him. Featured on the song is Kobby Keita who kicks a dope guest verse. Stream Sadia and if it makes you smile or laugh share it with a friend.
Akon featuring Wizkid – Escape
The energy between Akon and Wizkid is amazing as we witnessed in their first collaboration on Wizkid’s ‘Ayo’ album back in 2014 when he featured Akon on the song ‘For You’ and now Akon has featured Wizkid on his new tune ‘Escape’. The song has a pop vibe and both artists bring their A-game to play singing about what they both intend to do to be with their said lovers as they escape together.
Hannes OF – Millagro
‘Millagro’ translates to Spanish as ‘Miracle’, the song is a sequel to his last release ‘ties’ which featured Spacely. In ‘Millagro’, Hannes flexes his musical powers talking about how much of a miracle it is for him to have the girl he has and how no one can come in between what they have.
Badman Wade – Sativa
BadmanWade’s creativity doesn’t end at designing only it extends to music and he has released his first single for the year which he titles the ‘Sativa/420’ vibe, “Sativa” is a mix of hard flows, Yoruba melodies and deep bass tone delivery over a heavy dancehall-inspired beat produced by artist and producer, KizzErnie. On this one, he brags about his plans to catch a vibe, as he makes reference to his bad man antics, making a scene as he pulls up in classy ride, cruising with a pretty lady who’s down with it. They’re getting stoned off greens to the max and having a nice time as he just wants to enjoy and live every moment of their wayward encounter. BadmanWade surely doesn’t hold back as he delivers on this tune, this song is sure to put any listener on a vibe.
Blackway featuring Busta Rhymes – Intense
Blackway is looking for a repeat of his 2019 success, except this time around he’s getting help from Hip-Hop legend, Busta Rhymes on his new song ‘Intense’. Last year Blackway saw his hit record ‘What’s Up Danger’ off the Grammy-nominated soundtrack for ”Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse” received an RIAA certified Gold Plaque. Now to celebrate his birthday, the New York-based artist is finally dropping his first single of 2020 and is reminding everyone why he’s considered one of the best lyricists not only from Ghana but in all of Africa. The song is quite intense, no lies.
Zana May – Beyond Shadows
UK singer and songwriter Zana May captures listeners with atmospheric vocals as she uses her voice as an instrument. Influenced by various genres she has created her own style and a unique sound that draws in her audience. The delicate but dark track ‘Beyond Shadows’ produced by Ghanaian producer Moor Sound expresses a vibe of elegance while also projecting an unknown inner struggle which can be relatable to many. “Beyond Shadows” will mark the second time the pair have worked together with Zana May being featured on “Drip”, a single off Moor’s 2019 Project with Garvie.
Ria Boss – Call Up
“I promise I’ll call you back”, that is the intro to ‘call up’ by Ria Boss off her upcoming album which we are all anticipating. The connection is important and through music, Ria is able to connect with listeners as she shares her innermost thoughts and that’s exactly what she’s done in this soulful melodic tune, as to whether she calls back or not, you need to listen to find out.
Badax – Barrel
Barrel symbolizes life in this context, filling it to the brim implies the hard work every man has to do to get the brim(dream), as a soldier, protecting this barrel is your utmost priority since we find ourselves in a warzone ( a place where one can easily be discouraged and so on), external distractions cause leakages to most barrels making it difficult to get to their brim. The message Badax has for us in his new song ‘Barrel’ is to work hard while you protect your barrel at all costs.
Kelvynboy featuring Mugeez & Darko Vibes – Momo
Males usually complain that money is the only thing that can really move girls which is a lie by the way but it is what it is, Kelvynboy features Mugeez and Darko Vibes in a new song called ‘momo’ which is the short form of ‘mobile money’. All artistes take turns in assuring their lovers of excess love, care and above all momo anytime they want it, having 3 amazing male vocalists on this song then you know what to expect, the songs come with a video, watch it on YouTube via the link below.
Nine – Beachy
The two-song prelude by Nine titled ‘Beachy’ is a project preceding a bigger project which is yet to be released. The first song ‘focus’ features Kwame universe and as the title you know it speaks about staying focused on whatever you hope to achieve, ‘Chiild’ the second and last on the tape is more of a life story of people who act ‘childish’ regardless of how hard you try to make them grow, some people are just meant to be like that, they don’t heed to anyone’s advice, they like to move their own way and there’s nothing you can really do about it. GONZI featuring $awyrr – Tease Me
The song ‘tease me’ talks about praising the African culture through the empowerment of the black race, specifically the African woman. The lyrics of the song draws our attention to a scenario where the singer/songwriter is obsessed with the stunning physique of the dark-skinned African woman.
DOS – All Night
D.O.S draws her inspiration from “Situationships” in “All Night“. Being more than friends and with benefits, less than an official relationship. She talks about the reality check that hits you when one person’s feelings complicate this arrangement and knows they can’t have anything more than what is in session.

Stonebwoy – Anloga Junction
Stonebwoy’s long-awaited album has finally been released, the 15-track song features legendary highlife and reggae Kojo Antwi from Ghana, rapper Nasty C from South Africa America singer Keri Hilson, Alicia Harley from Jamaica, Zlatan from, Diamond Platinum from Tanzania, Jahmiel from Jamaica and hip hop artist Chivv from the Netherlands. The entire album is full of originality, authenticity and quality music, it talks about freedom, love, unity, being African and proud and has a couple of jamming songs in there, what makes this album one for the books will be the blend of genres from highlife to Afrobeat but not leaving the dancehall/reggae element. DJ Kwamzy – The Groove EP
Just like the title, the self-produced tape by Ghanaian-UK based producer DJ Kwamzy is set to put you in a groovy feeling, the two-song tape features BuMan and Pols. ‘Odo Bra’ which translates to ‘come love or come my love’ in Ghanaian language features BuMan & Pols and “Sade” which features BuMan are the songs on the EP, the entire tape speaks mostly of love and connection with significant others, have fun with it.

Big Daddy Jayy – Jayynius EP
Big Daddy Jayy’s self-produced ‘Jayynius EP’ is a 6-track Afrobeat tape that’s filled with all the vibes from Nigeria, the tape talks about life, love, assurance and all the struggles surrounding all the issues of life which can easily be related to. All songs are by Big Daddy Jayy except for track 4 ‘somebody’s daughter’ which features Buju.

Violet Mob – Mobsters Only
Violet mob is a collective which started in 2017. The collective consists of various talents such as Krosszn, Kuzz, O.G.P, Beast Boii & Diabloo Sinstro and so on. They’ve come together again from different parts of the world to create this beautiful hip-hop project titled ‘Mobsters Only’ (the project was actually a dream the collective had in high school in 2017). Mobsters Only consist of 8 songs, although it’s a hip/hop album it consists of other genres like soul, & Afrobeat. They also featured a Ghanaian based artist, Izzik on track 3 and 4 & Dapper Man on track 4.

Nessa – Bitter Sweet EP
Nessa’s journey of love, peace, danger, passion and hope is into a 6-song EP titled ‘Bitter-Sweet’.
