NEW SOUNDS WEEK 5

Lord Paper Featuring Bosom P Yung – “Asa Bone”

Lord Paper takes us back to the 90s, I know most of you weren’t born but that’s alright, this song will give you a vivid expression of what used to be great music back in the days. It gets exciting because he featured the ‘Atta Adwoa’ hitmaker Bosom P Yung. Funky vibes, classic vibes, with all the disco vibes, this song is IT. Check the video via the link below, you’ll love it.

Bomba – “Kobe Bryant tribute”

The death of Kobe Bryant hit us all regardless of where we found ourselves, as influential as he was and still is, his death was honoured in different parts of the world. Bomba pays his tribute to him in his new song and we will like to share it with you.

Nxwrth – “3y3 Mea”

Nxwrth has and is still known for being one of the best young producers in the industry but he is beginning to unfold his artist side to us as he releases his new song “3y3 mea”. Basically he’s giving us some good advice, don’t change for anyone, be who you are, be your own type of authentic, live life for you not for anyone or not to please anybody, just be you. The song features Brudda Nay and oh he killed it, y’all should check it out.

J.K.O – “Red Light”

The idea of the song is to bring awareness to the need for protected sex. According to him, he had an array of topics to talk about but he kept on going back to the idea of singing about having protected sexual intercourse. A slow tempo beat would’ve been ideal for this song but the trap beat resonates more with the youth, so it was a good option.

Nii Amu  – “Sin”

Sampling the screams in tongues of a prayer session observed, Boomin addresses a beautiful young lady catching his attention on the groovy instrumental. The vibes are amazing, melodies on point and the self-produced record just goes to prove Nii has the talent to be watched out for. “Sin” was co-produced by Okaiwav and is available on all streaming platforms.

NSG – “Ourself”

“I don’t need no help, got rich by ourselves” … the only energy we are living by this year. NSG music hit us with a new jam titled Ourself, taking turns one after the other all 6 members of the group sing about what it took them to be where they are today, they did it all by themselves.

Jaleel Thomas – “R” (Revenge)

R’ is a drill song inspired by feelings, struggles with balancing love and affection in our everyday life. Jaleel put all these problems in the form of a female and addressed her as “doing him dirty”. The mood was really hype but the story was of loyalty, betrayal and really just being honest to yourself about who you are, the things you like and the things you want. Jaleel basically just swung back and forth between melodic and his rap voice to sort of mask the urgency in it, but still make it a bop.

Kimilist – “Borkor Borkor”

Mimlife Records act Kimilist starts 2020 with a brand jam he calls “Borkor Borkor”. The song’s title which is translated as “Slow Slow”  describes how he wants to be treated by his lover. The Afro themed song was produced by in house producer Webiejustdidit. Enjoy and share this new jam.

Yung suxge – “Gidi vibes / I decide”

Yung Sugxe has released two singles this week, Gidi Vibes and I decide. Gidi Vibes is basically an Afro Beats song with African rhythm and a vibe for women in Lasgidi (Lagos) and all over the world obviously to accept themselves and how they are regardless of what society expects them to be. I decide on the other hand is quite an emotional hip hop song with melodic tunes. Yung reflects on past relationships and how much he lost himself in the process, this song talks about his decision to chose himself first no matter the situation, self-love is the only way out. All songs were mixed and mastered by himself.

Jerican featuring Ekko – “The Boy”

The song is basically inspired by random thoughts about what happens in our society these days where some girls happen to fall in love with boys because of material things. Jerican might have found all this from Nigeria where he comes but the sad truth is, it’s happening everywhere and it is what it is. Jerican featured Ekko on this one with their voices blending perfectly on what sounds like a fusion of classical afro beats, rap and alte.

Bra Koffy – “Road Up” (Remix)

It’s everyone’s hope and dream to get to higher heights in life, no one wishes to stay at one place forever we all dream of moving up one step at a time. Koffy talks about his musical journey as an independent artist, it hasn’t been smooth but he keeps getting higher and he climbs the hill to the ROAD UP. The sound pattern of this song is more of a rhyme scheme and idiomatic expressions and was produced by Quamina MP.

Sauti Sol – “Suzanna”

Sauti Sol’s Suzanna tackles the controversial issue of ‘sponsors’ or the idea of older men blessing younger girls with gifts. With their clever lyrics and sharp wits, they make fun of a woman who is a beneficiary of the lavish life as sponsored by an older man. The song is the first single off their upcoming album ‘Midnight Rain’.

Gyakie – “Sor Mi Mu”

Sor Mi Mu’ is a love song expressing how one has fallen in love unselfishly and demands her partner to hold on, embracing her tightly. A talented singer-songwriter, Gyakie makes it clear that she draws her artistic inspiration from genuine moments of extreme emotion and experiences of people around her, allowing many to connect with her great lyrical content and soothing sounds.
